Had the 'big talk' with DH

DH and I spoke about babies this past weekend. We know we want them, but I know Chris had wanted to wait till next year. I on the other hand am ready now - I'm 32 and ready!!

After discussing my contract at work (currently, until 2004, we not only get the 6 weeks maternity, but if we choose to take the FMLA, 10 out of the 12 weeks are paid at 70% - something which our district will NEVER RENEW AGAIN once the contract is up), I think it pushed Chris to see my way a little more than he has!! (He's a little scared - very common I think - but heck, so am I)...

Can anyone tell me the name of that book that helps you to calculate when you are ovulating and figuring out your fertility? Any other tips?

We would like to start trying on our vacation this August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The name of the book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I got mine from Amazon last year. They should still have some. August is the perfect time to start trying. You may have an end of school year baby like Thomas was...................

I just won that book on Ebay last night for $6 and $3 shipping. There are a ton of them on everday. Hope this helps.

I am such a nerd. I set my alarm at 12:45AM because the auction was ending at 1:00AM. I was so excited when I won it.

Congrats Marni - how exciting!!

and wow Dawn - $6 is a great deal for that book!

I bought it at B&N for like $30! I didn't finish reading it though - I got about half way through and stopped, for now at least.

It is very informative and helpful though - so when the time comes I'll go back and re-read it!

Taking charge of your fertility is an awesome book! I could not believe how much I did not know about my own body (they do not teach this stuff in school).

PS ... awesome on the maternity situation. It's so rare to hear that any district will pay someone to be out more than 6 weeks! Mine doesn't ... I'll go on FMLA unpaid for 12 weeks after my 6 are up. Definitely take advantage!!!!

Christine - I was talking to one of my union reps and he said we're like the only school on LI to do this. But it has caused a TON of problems, so we KNOW it will not be in the next contract!!

Momma Marni, that's great you are going to be a great mom, I see how you are with my little terror and you have alot of patience which is what it takes to be a really great mom, and I saw chris too, he is going to make a really great dad.
