Had to change the date....
and no, I am not pregnant. We had originally wanted a reception site ceremony, but then changed our minds to get married in the church. The church was totally booked for October, so we had to move it up to September 14th. It is only one month earlier, but I went into a minor panic-attack about getting myself in gear with planning. I have to say that Coral House was wonderful about changing the date to give us the room we wanted for the new date. We went in last night to sign the changes to the contract and taste the Chateaubriand. The food was wonderful, and helped to almost complete our menu selections. Kristen spent an hour with us that helped to answer many of my set-up questions for the room. She has a good sense of my style, and even let me peak into another reception to see the centerpieces they got that she thought I would like. I loved them! They were from the house florist, so I now have that detail done too! Thanks for listening and all the helpful hints! Let the planning frenzy begin!

Diana ... Re: Coral House (long)
I was married there last October and Kristen was my banquet manager as well. She was truly wonderful to work with! Frank was our maitre'd and he was just ok. Personally, I felt he could have been more attentive. We paid for a bathroom attendant and didn't even know she was in the WRONG bathroom (2 hours later...) until I peeked my head in to see if she was there! Frank did take care of it right away but I was a bit disappointed that the ball was dropped. I never did say anything to Kristen. Meanwhile, I spent over $50 filling a hospitality basket for my guests and EVERYTHING was gone 1/2 way through my reception. We had the salmon, chateaubriand and chicken francaise. The fish and beef were huge hits while the chicken was just so-so (I ate the chicken). If you have any questions feel free to ask!! By the way, if you're using a DJ, we used the house DJ, D-Jay Joey and Co. for 4 hours! He was great and very reasonable!! Good luck!

No, I didn't use the roof... BRRRR!! We had the Colonial Skylight room and the Nantucket Deck room. My cake was chocolate w/ raspberry. YUM!! Honestly, SO much better than I expected! I've been to so many weddings where the cake was yucky! Good luck!

Comments on Coral House
Our menu is going to be the Chateaubriand, chicken with pommery mustard sauce, and the broiled Norweigan Salmon with either the dill sauce or the citrus chardonnay sauce. We tried both the chicken and the chataubriand, but not the salmon yet. The mustard sauce was very good for the chicken. For anyone (Kathi or others) who didn't like their food, did you have a tasting ahead of time, like the food, and it wasn't as good as the tasting? As for the bathroom attendant, Kristen hasn't mentioned that option, but I will ask her. I had mentioned a point someone made on an old post on this board about kids playing in the lobby (baseball banquet) and she assured me that a Sat. night in Sept. is not a time when that would happen, but if we have ANY concerns to tell her immediately and she will handle it. I will make note of Frank, the Maitre D', and find a tactful way to maybe have someone else. I think she gets the idea I am getting a bit anal about the reception and that it is very classy, and she has been bending over backwards to be accommodating, as I said earlier. She takes any negative comments made here or by word of mouth very seriously. In fact, last night she asked me if I heard anything else negative, but Richie and I had only heard positives. DJ Joey was there last night and my FI really liked him a lot. As we were doing our tasting, Joey was in a nearby room, and Richie liked every song he played. Joey is more than reasonable, as per the prices Kristen got from him last night for us. He looks like a definite possibility if he is available. Funny because Richie was the one who was gung ho about a band/orchestra. Thanks for all the comments!

What was in the hospitality basket? Did you hire the bathroom attendant privately? or thru Coral House? I didn't know each party had their own bathroom. Thanks! Diana

Kristen handled the bathroom attendant for us. $75 for 5 hours. I just wanted to make sure it was tidy throughout the day. I made the hospitality basket myself... w/ a whole bunch of stuff including Shout wipes, hairbrush, hairspray, mints, etc. etc. etc.! We had the bathroom upstairs since we had the smaller room. The Americana Room's bathroom is downstairs, although, guests from that wedding used *our* bathrooms. There's no way to prevent it really. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Camille...
Our ceremony was inside (in the Library Room). We had an interfaith ceremony (Catholic/Jewish) and the Catholic church does not allow outdoor marriage. The cocktail hour was HUGE!!! Too much food if you ask me. I heard nothing but good things about it from my guests. Good luck!

Comments on Coral House-food
Yes, they DO offer a lot of food! I laughed when I read your post, Camille, because I was sitting last night trying to get the list for the cocktail hour down to the 24 choices we are allowed, from the 100 or so they offer. I think I would have done better with fewer choices in some areas.

We have the use of that small room upstairs...I was under the impression that was for the bridal party only. There is a bathroom up there, with food and drinks. I didn't know I had to share that room. hmmmmmmm...... I will have to ask Kristen next time I am in what exactly that room is for, and whom. I was going to get a babysitter for the small kids as the reception runs late (midnight) and I figured the parents could bring a pillow and the kids could crash up there.

Hold on I am having my wedding there and I did not know there were specific bathrooms for each room. I am using the Americana room but I just don't see how guests will know to go downstairs to use the bathroom. I would be interested in the attendant but not if it will defeat the purpose. My contact there is Linda do I just ask her to get one for me? I mean is this an outside person or a coral house staff person?

Did you have to write the names of guests on the place cards or did CH do that for you. Also did anyone take pics outside by the lake? I want to know how it was b/c I have heard the geese can make a mess back there.
