Did you 'haggle' at all??? Is it expected to negotiate or do you just accept their price quote???

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
I asked if I guarenteed more people would the price change, and I was able to knock a few dollars.
If you are bookin on short notice, perhaps you can negotiate better.
Or you can see what else they are willing to give.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
I think you are really suppose to negotiate - especially with what you get for the price per person.
Me and DH are horrible at it though! So, no, we didn't negotiate ANYTHING. And, I do feel we overpayed.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
we removed the carving stations from the CH since there was a TON of food at the CH anyway. that knocked some $ off the PP price.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
Always negotiate. Never accept their first offer. I guess that's just me though and one too many business classes and seminars. Try and talk them down on price or guarantees. Have them throw in vendors meals for free. If you want chair covers, ask them to be included. Viennese hour is another thing people like to have added, CH see if they can add in extras. Try for anything. Any little bit helps.
But don't just settle for what they throw in front of you. Negotiate!!!

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. Think of it this way...the worst they can say is no. We've negotiated everything (well, except for the church) and everyone so far knocked $ off. For example, when it came to choosing between our final two reception sites, we explained to our 1st choice that we really wanted to go with them but that our 2nd choice was about $15pp less. They wound up coming down a lot for us and almost matching the other price so we booked. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Luckily my FH is pretty good at it because I'm a big chicken to ask. But I'm getting better because I see that it works!
Good luck!

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
I just kinda mentioned that we weren't even sure that we could get 125 people so she reduced the $ and the people requirement. I was shocked. I was really just mentioning that I wasn't sure how many people would come!

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
My Dad is the ultimate negotiator....it is both humorous and uncomfortable, but he always manages to get a great deal. He always threatens to 'walk' or that it will be a 'deal breaker' if the vendor doesn't negotiate with him. Anyway, he saved himself about $2,000 negotiating with Capitale.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
We got a big discount AND some major add-ons by haggling.
It's totally worth it!

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
it never hurts to try and get yourself a better deal...the worst that can happen is that they say no and you're stuck paying the rate they originally gave you.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
I think a lot of places, rather than lowering the price, will instead throw in stuff if you ask, i.e. mini-viennese, extras at CH hour, etc.

Re: Haggling for Price per Person???
I think you should at least try to negotiate. Our Banquet Manager was very open to negotiation and she reduced the per person price and eliminated the room minimum.
