hair accessories help

can someone please explain the difference between hair combs, brooches, clips, barettes....etc.
do they serve the same purpose? is one more comfy or not? are some for the back, the front, the side??

sorry, as you can see im lost...i was planning on a tiara but no longer doing that and i need something for the side (but toward the back) of my hair.

hair pins you kinda stick in to a bun

combs have teeth on them and i was told they stay better

barettes are clippy

ETA: you can't wear a brooch b/c its like an actual pin you'd wear on a sweater or dress, but you can have someone put a comb or barette on a brooch if you like the design
