You know how I'm getting married in a little rural town in North Connecticut, right? So there's apparently one salon up there that does good hair and makeup for weddings, recommended to me by the owner of the inn where I'm getting married. I called today to set up my trial... and they're all booked up for my date! If I want to use them, I have to get there at 10:00 AM and sit around in my hair and makeup for 5 hours.
This is a little itty-bitty town in the middle of nowhere... I don't know what to do. I've emailed the innkeeper and asked if he had any backup choices for me. I haven't heard back yet. I am SO MAD at myself: why didn't I book this months ago??

Re: Hair and Make-up
many of the hair and make up artists do travel. Find one maybe in the city, brooklyn, queens since it will be closer for them. How far is your RH from ny

Re: Hair and Make-up
5 hours might not be that bad. I'm getting my hair done at 11:00am for a 6:30pm ceremony. I should be done by 12:00pm, get home at 12:30. Photographer is getting there at 2:00pm and limos are picking me up at 3:00pm. We are getting married at the RH and taking pictures before the ceremony. HTH!

Are any of your guests/bridal party hair stylists or make up artists??

Re: Hair and Make-up
Thanks everyone. My wedding is 2 or 3 hours from NY, so it doesn't pay to have anyone travel.
But you bring up a good point... one of FH's best girl friends is a hair stylist who even offered to do my hair. I turned her down, thinking it would be awkward to have a guest 'put to work', but now that the situation is dire...
We only need 3 updo's and 2 blowouts. I bet the salon can do the blowouts no problem. FH's friend can probably do one or two updo's. This is worth thinking about; thank you.

Re: Hair and Make-up
some hair and make up artists will travel to CT for you, it might be extra $$$$ but if you have no other option it might be worth it. Good luck!!!!

What about looking into the towns nearby to see if anyone will travel to your hotel? Maybe something within a 1/2 hour??

Re: Hair and Make-up
If I'm understanding your original post correctly, the people said you'd have to go to them at 10am, and it looks like your wedding starts at 3pm, so that's the 5 hour difference? But you have to figure, it will take quite a while to get your hair done, and then you have to do makeup. By the time you leave and get back to the house, you'll probably start to get ready because I'm sure pictures will start soon after. It actually sounds like the 10am time would be a great time. I couldn't imagine starting hair any later than that really.
Also, are they all booked for other weddings, or are they booked with other regular type hair appointments. Cause if it's other regular appts, maybe you can explain to them this is for a wedding, is there anyway they can reschedule the other appts?
