Re: hair and make up trial...
I'm getting married in June and I have started to go already - all the good vendors are pretty much booked already. I would definitely start looking around.

hmmmmmm, maybe I'll start looking too. I thought it was too early, but I guess not!

May is a popular month, so yes, you may want to start looking now and getting trials.
Best of luck.

I definitely wouldn't wait...coming from someone who didn't do this as early as I should have! I am thrilled with who I did book, but had called a couple of others and they were already booked, and getting married in November (which I think is much less popular than may!)
Good luck and enjoy!!!!

yup i agree...start at least doing some trials now and calling potential people you are interested in, to see if they are available on your date

Re: hair and make up trial...
I'm getting married in March, and I haven't done it yet, but I did start emailing places to see if they had my date available and about 4 places already came back that they're booked. so you should probably start in the next couple of months at least enquiring if not going for trials.

I would suggest getting it done ASAP that way you get the people you want and don't have to worry about them being already booked.

I would wait and continue to collect pictures of ideas you have and then when the day gets closer, make an appointment. This is just my opinion as a may bride who had her trial exactly one week before my wedding I think one month before should be enough time unless you think you are going to be really undecided and need more than one trial, then I would say maybe Feb/March
ETA: Make appointments in advance either way. Maybe by January
