Has anyone ever heard of Gina Simone? She's supposed to be a makeup artist and hairstylist for models and stuff. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of her or used her before?

Re: Hair and Makeup
Jaqueline Nicole recommended her to me when I found out Jackie was booked. I called her and the only reason I didn't go through with the trial is because she charges $100 for the trial and then $125 for the day of. I thought the trial charge was too high - because what if you decide not to book her, you've spent so much money already. Her website looks nice though.

Re: Hair and Makeup
I also called Gina Simone. I think her prices for trials were very high. She told me $80 for make-up and I think 70 for hair. $120 for both- Just for a trial. Her day of prices were way more, and it would turn out to be almost $500 (including what you spend for a trial)if you go with her.
That's way too much. I went to Jacqueline Nicole (who did a great job), and also had another make-up trial locally. I still want to go for another one or two trials, but would like to avoid going broke in the process. If I am going to spend the money, I would like to be sure that I am not throwing it away. Make-up is obviously very important and I would like to explore all my options so that I can make an educated decision.

Jacqueline also referred me to another make-up artist, Jade Kessel. She does airbrush as well and did a very nice job at my trial. Trial was free 631-724-5564 she is in Smithtown

Re: Hair and Makeup
I spoke to Jade on the phone a few weeks ago and felt that she sounded very uninterested/annoyed. She asked where I live, so I said bklyn, but before I had the chance to tell her that I would be in a hotel in LI on the day of, she told me she couldnt help me because she doesnt come to brooklyn, and just basically dismissed me, and was about to hang up. I told her I would be in LI and she said okay. I told her I would call back to schedule a trial, but I don't think I will. I just felt that she wasn't as enthusiastic or as interested as she should have been (like Jacqueline Nicole is).
The search continues. I feel I need at least 2 more trials before making my decision.

Re: Hair and Makeup
Me and my friend both did a trial with Gina and we were both very very unhappy and we were really pissed we paid so much for a trial, I could kick myself. But I guess you live and learn, huh. I hate to bad mouth someone but I don't want to see someone else waste their hard earned money at a time where every penny is needed.

I think its important for you to share that info, especially since she is so expenive. I appreciate it (even though I wasn't going to go to her anyway).

Re: Hair and Makeup
I travel to different salons as a product rep, so I know of several makeup artists if you'd like their names.

Wow thanx for your input. I don't think it's really worth it if the trial is so expensive. If I don't like it then that is money wasted. Does Jacqueline Nicole do hair and makeup? Any other recommendations on hair and makeup trials?

Re: Hair and Makeup
Here are 2 names. Both are very good. Debbie is more in-salon, but will travel for an additional charge. Denise does more on-location bridal work.
Denise at Sole Salon in Huntington (pronounced so-LAY) 516 241-9805 (direct#). Nice nice person. Seems to care alot about her brides. Probably charges around $75 for bride, but I could be off $5.00 either way.
Debbie at Meridian Salon in Huntington 631 424 2531. I like her too, she's probably a bit pricier. She charges the same price for everyone - brides BM's, etc. (about $100 per) and generally does her clients in the salon.
