How many of you girls really feel the need to go on hair and makeup trials? Do you think it's necessary to spend the $ on it or do you think it's OK to just chance it the day of if you know the artist/stylists work is good???

I think if you've been going to your hair person for a long time you can always chance it. You may want to go just to play around with different looks. Totally up to you.
I went b/c I never had the hairdresser do my hair b4 and I've never had my make-up done professionally.... the MAC or Channel counter doesn't count. LOL

i had the same debate with myself. i just couldnt rationalize spending the money....BUT in the end i decided it is my wedding and will only come once and i want to look perfect. so i will be going for my hair and make up trial this thrusday.

I think it's up to you. I went for a hair trail just to get an idea because I didn't know what I wanted but I do know the lady who is doing my makeup so I am not sure if I am going for a trail or not because I know it will look great. Its up to you! I understand where you are coming from with the money issue to. That can add up quick if you go for a couple of trails.

I WOULD NOT chance it! Think about how stressed and upset you would be if your hair didin't turn out the way you wanted it to! No matter how good the stylist is I just would be too nervous! I was going to go with my regular stylist and after my trial with her I decided not to! XOXOXO Kitty

I think it is very important to go on trials. Its your wedding day and everything should be perfect. The pricing charged is a little ridiculous though.

IMO I think a trial is important. Even if you are using your usual stylist you want to give them an idea of what you want. I went for a trial in June and am going back for another hair trial in April (2 weeks before the weddding) to try a different style. I wouldn't chance it.

You will be looking at these pictures for the rest of your life and if you hate your hair or the way you look, you can never get that day back.

i would go for at least one trial. I know it gets out of hand but I would go to a good reputable person- if they are good, they will be able to come up with a look that will make you happy.

Agree! You can never be sure you will like how it will come out and you want that to be the least of your worries that morning - especially the makeup! Actually, it's funny that you ask this because just yesterday my FMIL was telling me that the day of her wedding she went and got her hair done up and she HATED it! She actually came home, washed her hair, and went with her hair straight down! She ended up being happier that way than what she came home with from the stylist!

oh i just wanted to add a personal experience-i had gone for a makeup/hair trial and I ended up not liking it. and i went to a person that did my sil's wedding and she did an amazing job on her!! But for me, the makeup colors were all wrong and she did a ok job on my hair. And after seeing pics, i now want to change my hair style..
Do at least one trial with a good reputable person!! good luck!!

I would do it. For me I love my stylist, but I'm not sure how I really want to wear my hair that day. So I figured I can show her a picture of my dress and bring along my hair pieces to see what works best.

Thanks so much for your educated responses girls!! I had an appointment for a trial yesterday but had to cancel because FH was sick. I wasn't sure if I was gonna reschedule just cause I hate to spend MORE $$... I swear everytime I turn around it's more $$....

I agree. I am going to be doing my own makeup and my mom will be doing my hair...so I know how its going to be. But if I were getting both things professionally done, I would do the trial. I just couldnt take the chance..however, I do agree that the prices are INSANE my mouth just opens wide when Ive seen some of those prices..but remember its ONE day of your life...would you rather regret it or be happy and just pay a little more...

I wouldn't chance it. I thought I knew what I wanted but when I had my trial I didn't like how the hair looked. Jen did great, she did exactly what I asked her for but the style just did not work for me. So, you never know until you see it!

I wouldn't chance it because if you don't like your hair and makeup it will show through your pics. I'm not talking about that you'll simply see the hair and makeup, but you and other people will be able to see through you and feel your dislike/discomfort in the pics. This does come through in pics.
Spending more $$$ than we have to totally $ucks big marbles, but you cannot go back in time when you see your wedding pictures.

I think it's important because you want to make 100% sure that this is what you want to look like on your wedding day. You're going to be looking at pictures of yourself for the rest of your life and don't want ANY regrets!!
