Hair color advice. Highlights or color?

Hair color advice. Highlights or color?

For the longest time I have been getting blonde highlights on my brown hair. Now that I will be getting married in a little over a year, I'm concerned that the highlights will look funny on my wedding day (when I put my hair up, it looks very streaky and not natural). Should I switch to just coloring my whole head blonde? Should I have my hair dyed and then have highlights put on? Anyone have any good colorists to recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend MetroModes in Bellmore. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. I had a makeover done there and it was the best thing I could've done for myself. Good Luck!!

I go to Barbara Ross in Commack and use Kristine S. She has been coloring my hair for 3 years now and I have sent all my friends to her. She is a GREAT Colorist!! If your interested her # is 631-499-8199. Good Luck

I had the same problem...

I had the same problem. I am a blond who had blond highlights. When I would pick my hair up I hated the streaks (i've seen it in pictures and i don't like the way it looks). My hairdresser told me they will not put highlights OVER a single process. They will however do the highlights FIRST then the single process (or a toner) over that. That's what I did. THis way my hair is not so flat but i don't have the streaks either. I went to Lois Christie at Christie & Co. in Bay Terrace, Bayside. They are expensive but definitely worth it. I had tried going to other places and they made a complete mess of my hair. Lois is the owner. The number is (718) 225-7766.

I use Kris S. at Barbara Ross too - she's awesome.

Hey. If I were you on that, I would choose a lighter brown-dark blonde color. I understand that it will look streaky with the highlights. I know because I have them too. If you plan to go completely blonde, it all depends on your skin tone. If you're fair skinned, go for Gwenyth blonde. If you have a nice tan, go for Jennifer Lopez blonde. But that's up to you.

high/low lights

What would probably lessen the streaky look is getting high and low lights - since my hair is dirty blonde anyway, it looked the most natural.

there is soooo much talk about Kristen over in Smithtown at Enchante-- You should try her as a colorist, she did win Nationwide creative colorist of the year for Wella. They now have a web page for weddings, etc.. Enchante Salon & Day Spa

Thanks ladies

Thanks for all your help. I will probably chose one of the women you recommended and make an appointment this week. I appreciate all of your advice. Thanks again.
