Ok well bc i procrastinated on dying my hair this is my fault lol and what i get.
So i went yesterday to go back to blonde, when i showed up the girl said 'oh i didnt know you had roots' and yes i did bc i didnt want to dye it red again just bc of the roots bc then it would be harder to go back to blonde, my hair got alot lighter and faded so it was easier to dye. She said that since i have roots that if she does the highlights the top wouldn't be even with the rest of the hair, which is true bc it has happened before, you do see a difference many times with blondes when you look at the roots. So she said she was going going to dye my roots and then pull that color through my hair to make it all one even color and then to come back in 2 weeks to do my highlights. I said yes to just do single process right now thats fine with me and ill come back beginning of may to do my highlights. But here is the thing it was done and my hair is brown i thought it would all be one color but blonde and though its a light brown but not that light either. She said next time she will do the color so i assumed to do it all blonde and then highlights on top. But then when i was leaving she said something that makes me think she has something else in mind, as i was walking out she said 'this is such a pretty color it will look great with blonde highlights over it. Ok i dont want brown hair with blonde highlights on top, i personally dont want the very streaky look, i like blonde hair and then with blonde highlights throughout but to blend together. I had said to her i dont want platinum that was my only thing so i hope that wasnt understood as dont want it too blonde, bc i also did say i do want it blonde throughout my whole hair.
Since i got home yesterday, i realize how much i dont want brown hair right now lol, i know its stupid but i always either have blonde or red, on me its what i prefer, dont take it the wrong way bc not like i think its bad for others just for myself. Also remembered that i am going to vegas next weekend and its stupid but i want blonde hair for it, wouldnt have minded the red but just not brown. I am going to call her tomorrow and just to confirm that my hair will not stay this brown and just put highlights on top i want the whole thing dyed and THEN put highlights bc i think she likes how it would look with brown hair and just some blonde throughout it, its how she has her hair where its just mostly the front blonde.
Now here is my problem, i know i shouldn't do this but should i dye my hair blonde before going to vegas although i just dyed my hair but i would only do the single process right now, i know i shouldn't but i always try to convince myself i can in these situations or should i just deal with it and wait 2 weeks. The other problem is i am not sure if she can do it this week before i leave, and i even thought of going elsewhere to get it done but then it would be real bad if i went to her in 2 weeks for the highlights and she sees i got it dyed all blonde elsewhere, i feel bad bc she knows my mom so this is why it puts me in an awkward position otherwise i wouldnt even worry. I also think that if i ask to get it dyed again this week she'll say its too soon. Another reason i want to dye it blonde now is bc i know from past experiences the first time you go back to blonde it wont necessarily come out how you want and need to do it a 2nd time, if i wait to dye it then i wont have time before the wedding to do it a 2nd time and i dont want to have a color i dont like for my own wedding
so what would you do? i know its not that big of a deal but i keep thinking about it
****UPDATED**** ok i called her and told her i am just afraid with my hair that i wont get the blonde i want just from doing it one time and if i can get it done now and then ill do it again closer to the wedding. I feel bad bc my mom called and talked first and i said ill talk to her to say what i want to say but sometimes my mom just comes out and says things how she shouldn't she said you know she wanted blonde i took the phone away from her and said no the problem is that i think i need it done twice. SO i am going tuesday to get highlights, why do i worry about stupid things lol

Re: hair color question
Okay first off, do not mess with your hair this close to your wedding. Leave it to a professional and just deal with brown hair for vegas.
Second, if you are getting a full head of hi-lites in 2 weeks you will barely see any brown hair ata ll.
That is usually what I do, I don't die my hair blonde, I just hi-lite the entire thing and you would never be able to tell. Just tell her to put in A LOT of hi-lites and I think you will be happy with the finished product.
BTW, its just my opinion about not touching your hair for vegas, You obviously can do whatever you want, I would just be very nervous. Good luck, and lets see a pic of the brown hair

Re: hair color question
I think you should do whatever you want to make sure that you have all the self confidence in the world on your wedding day. I would take what a professional hair dresser says seriously, because she only has the best intentions....but you know what you want and I think you should do whatever it takes to get it done.

Re: hair color question
hmmmm why don't you call her and explain exactly what you want. Ask her about coming back in to dye it. Explain the situation, and maybe she'll do it. It's kinda like either way you'll have to dye it twice....either now or right before your wedding to get what you want. I would do it now, rather than waiting. You don't want to be disappointed about the color when its too close to your wedding and your stuck!!!

it might get blonder over the next few days, i know when my mom and grandma dye their hair it is very dark at first and then lightens after a few showers and as time passes.
do you have any pictures?

I agree with Jess and don't do anything to your hair. I do the same thing and get full head of highlights and it looks more blonde and not streaky at all. Stick with the brown for vegas, you don't want to ruin your hair. It will lighten anyway.

yeah thats what i figured to do with the highlights all over but she also said she wont make chunky highlights just do thin strips of hair throughout so i think thats where i got confused, if its just thin strips then the brown will show alot. Ill just call tomorrow though to let her know i want it to look all blonde so i guess that part is not a problem. It was just when i left and she said THIS color will look great with blonde highlights and all i thought was 'I DONT WANT THIS COLOR TO SHOW'
Thats what im afraid of, messing with my hair so close to the wedding even Fh said it was stupid to care about the color for vegas bc it looks fine and i know i shouldnt care but i do lol its one of those things you even feel bad for even worrying but cant help it.
LOL thank you i appreciate the advice,

i guess for me its hard now bc the lady who has been doing my hair blonde fore YEARS moved and this one has never done my hair before and its harder when you dont know, i mean i hear shes very good so maybe i should worry about the other big things going on i just am worried bc i think she misunderstood, while getting my hair done alot of things were going on and she had something to take care of so thats why i think maybe there was some confusion but im going to call tomorrow to clear it up. Ill see what she says

being stuck is what im afraid of, i mean for vegas i can deal with it i guess its not that big of a deal lol but for the wedding im afraid. Yeah she even said another thing is that if i do highlights now by the wedding my roots can grow in and color can fade so better to get it before.

this is somebody my mom works with so thats why its awkward lol, i dont want to put my mom in an awkward position, if it was an outside person then i would just do it lol well not me but get it blonde now elsewhere. I also dont want her to think im not happy with it. I mean i really like that she said she wont put highlights over my hair when it was more than one color and with roots bc it would look bad, its happened to me before and some dont care and do it anyways, so im glad that she wants it to look perfect. I am trying to think how to word it so she doesnt think i dont like it
hair does get lighter but its brown now, even if it gets lighter will still be brown
yeah ill take some later, my hair is a mess bc when i sleep it gets all tangled up and messy so after i shower

I'm a brunette so I don't know about going back and forth with blonde hair, but you know your hair best. First, I would speak with her again and make sure she understands what you really want. Second, I understand what you are saying about being somewhere in between where you want to be, but try not to be impulsive. I know you want to be blonde for Vegas, but don't rush it and risk damaging your hair this close to your wedding. If you and your hair dresser don't think it will damage your hair to do the single to blonde a little earlier, then do that. But, it sounds like she is advising against it. I would just make sure she understands how you really want it and make sure she's not misunderstanding...you definitely don't want to end up with the wrong thing now! And, is she someone that you are comfortable with? It doesn't sound like she is your regular girl. Even though it's not what you really want, I'm sure for the time being, the brown is really nice! The main thing is to think of the end result for your wedding...more important than your weekend in Vegas!

lol well this is what i get for procrastinating. The only thing i can think of is maybe JUST to get a glaze which lightens your hair, ill ask about that and see if that is safe and wont ruin my hair

Yeah, I'm surprised you proscrastinated, too...ha. As far as I know, the glaze is good for your hair, so that shouldn't hurt it.

well i was blonde for 6 years or more actually maybe 8 before i dyed my hair red this past november. I did dye it red in between a few times but still mostly it has been blonde for years so im used to having highlights over blonde hair and haven't had to do the whole highlights over darker hair in a long time so i guess i forgot how it looks when its done like that.
I think it was just the comment when i left that got me confused, the whole this color looking great with the blonde bc all i thought was i dont want darker hair to show at all so why would it look great. Maybe it was me that took that comment wrong but yeah i am just going to explain fully what i want done before she does it again in 2 weeks and even bring a pic of myself from when i was blonde to show and get a better understanding. And no i have never used her but my mom says she is very good at color. The lady i went to for about 6 years or so moved, and it is hard after you had someone for so long bc she knew exactly what i liked and i knew her work well after a while so i never had to worry. In the past i have had experiences where i ask for something and a hair dresser thinks something else would be better and they do what they like best, now yes it can be a great color or style but its not what i wanted. I have seen this with many of them, where you say one thing and they just say ok yes but meanwhile do the opposite bc they think their way is best its like when you ask for a trim and then they cut 6 inches off lol bc they think it would look better, i dont think this one is like that necessarily but i dont know for sure.
I will also have ALOT of extensions the day of so maybe that will help too but also afraid if its too streaky will be more difficult

its been hard to get an appt, she works in the city at a place that gets booked and with having alot to do on weekends it was hard to find the right time. I wanted to do it the first weekend in april but i broke my foot then so i couldn't even go when i wanted to. I should've started in march now that i think about it but eh cant dwell on that now lol
its real stupid and i know but i havent had brown hair since i was probably 14 and the only other time was in situations like this where i went from red to blonde and it turned out brown first. So im not used to it and dont feel like myself hahaha but ill just leave it alone now and wait until the first weekend in may when i go back.

Re: hair color question
Hey! I am totally for going in and getting fixed right away. I am like you...if I dont like how it looks, I need it fixed right away. I wouldnt do a box die tho....but see if you can get in to see her asap and tell her you want a singe process blond.
Also what shade of brown is your hair. If it is a light light brown, it will not look too stripey when it is highlighted. But if it is a medium brown it will look stripey. Not chunky but definitely alittle stripey and that is not what you want....so I'd say you need to do single process blond right away. Then in a few weeks add blond for the extra umph.

I know exactly what you're saying. That's why I said, you know your hair best...you've gone through the process before.
Oh yeah, I meant to say that...bring a picture of how you want it to look to make sure she's not misunderstanding. I'm the same way, that's why I'm really particular about who I go to for my hair. I'm not comfortable going to just anyone...I like to stay with someone who knows me and I'm comfortable with. When I was younger I had someone do my hair who just didn't listen to what I wanted, and was scissor happy...that's when I cut him off...ha. I went from having hair almost to the middle of my back, to really short hair. That's why after him, I was always careful about who I went to. I hate when a hairdresser doesn't really listen to their client. I followed the girl who has been doing my hair for awhile now because it wasn't that out of the way to me. But, since I moved it's even further for me so right now I'm really going out of my way because I really don't want to try someone new especially close to the wedding.
At least you have a recommendation for her and you know she is good, so you should be fine!
