Hair confusion, input please!

The wedding is July 27th and I still don't have anyone to do my hair. I'll be at home with my mother in the morning until my bridal party and other family come by in the early afternoon. My mother is thinking about getting her hair done but she's not sure yet. That issue aside, she feels like I should have someone come to the house. I don't mind driving myself someplace, but if she decides to get her hair done, I'd certainly have to consider her feelings too. I called three places and I don't have any numbers but it seems like having someone travel makes it prohibitively expensive. One place I called, Salon Menage, indicated that they do it very rarely and the woman I spoke to was really encouraging me to come to the salon. I'm not sure what to do. If I've learned anything throughout this process, it's that when it comes to weddings people have their own ideas of what makes sense and what doesn't, and it's often hard to convince them to change their minds. I know the first thing to do would be to find out what my mom wants to do about her hair, and then take it from there. But what are you all doing? Are you traveling? If they're coming to you, is it a lot cheaper when you have more people? (per person, that is). My bridesmaids won't be there (they're coming from all over the place) so it will just be my mom and I in the morning. I'm sure I wouldn't be in the least worried about this if this were all happening three months ago, but the wedding is 5 weeks and 2 days away (not that I'm counting or anything.)It's my own fault, I need to get my act together! I am having a friend that is also a hair stylist come to my house. Many beauticians do side work which includes coming to the house. I would ask friends and neighbors for recommendations and then speak to the stylist directly. They often don't want the salon to know about their side jobs.

I am not sure where you are located, my stylist, who has done my hair for four years, and is great, works out of a salon in woodbury.. it is salon dakota, the number is 516-496-2525 her name is liz.. just tell her tami sent you.. I don't know if she comes to the house, but she might know people that do come to the house.. hope this helps!

I have a friend of mine from growing up...her name is Dawn and she also got married at the westbury manor. She works at Bocu Salon and Day Spa in Commack - Its also a great place for some relaxation. Sounds like a dilemma

I'm using Patti from european image salon, and she's coming to my house on my wedding day, she actually asked me if she would be coming to my home or if I would be coming to the salon. I didn't even know that there was an option. there is a price difference, but its not that expensive( to me its not) Such a burden is lifted knowing that i can relax at my house and have my hair and makeup done, and not have to worry about going to the salon and risk the chance of her not running on time for me. the number is (516)364-3736 .Good luck, i hope it all works out for you!

Hi Nicole, For Patti to come to my home, it costs $175. She doesn't do makeup, her sister Louisa does. She too is coming to my house. She's airbrushing my makeup, and that costs $150. I don't mind paying that, its actually cheaper than some of the other salons I inquired about. And besides I don't mind paying xtra for them to come to me, one less thing to worry about that morning!
