Is it customary for bridal hair stylist to have contracts? And for them to be so strict??? The hair stylist just sent me a contract in which I have to write down every person who is getting their hair done, and it states that the balance has to be paid off 10 days before the wedding date..... I wouldnt expect my girls to pay for their hair until the day of, when they actually get their hair done. I guess I wouldnt mind paying off what I owe early, but I would also prefer to pay her the day of.....
Does anybody else have a strict contract like this for their hair or MU person?? My MU artist didnt even give me contract (thank goodness).

well we didn't have a contract - I'm using a local salon. But we were asked to put down a deposit for the girls getting their hair done because they have had problems in the past with people making appointments for wedding parties and not showing up.

A deposit I can understand, but to pay it off before she even does their hair??? That makes no sense....

yup, I had a contract for makeup & hair (same person) and i paid half the amount for the deposit (i was doing a package so it was like $500 for the deposit).
I don't think it's too odd since they have to protect themselve too, you know? What if I bailed last second, then the MU/Hair artist would be out a 1000 that she could've booked with someone else.
I read my contract though and it's pretty fair, i forget the exact time frame but it gives me plenty of time to cancel

I think the people who come to your house always have a contract so you dont screw them over, most places we've been to for wedding parties have been local salons..no contracts there

omg, no, I'm doing a package which includes 6 girls (hair & makeup) including myself or 12 services mix & match. Kinda sucks since I did have to front the money and wont see any of it until the day of

i had to pay half of the deposit
and my hair girl has a 3 person minimum...so i had to pay for half of the services of the 3 people(myself included in that)
i do not have to pay anything until the day of, same with my MU artist
she did ask for a list of each girl and what they were getting done
i only gave her the 2 i had now
but the week before the wedding, she expects a list of each girl and what they are getting, she wants a final list
but this is bc she wants to map out a timeline to make sure everything runs smoothly
i actually really like that she is doing that bc i hate being late and i like having things in order, made me feel a lot better about the morning of, knowing she is going to make sure we are on a schedule!
it is odd that she wants money before the wedding but if you think about tons of our vendors expect payment BEFORE the big day- photo, RH, flowers, etc
