For your FG, Claires would be a great idea. If you could get to Tri County in LI, I would suggest there (if you are going to the GTG - its not that far)

On 38th between 5th and 6th there are a bunch of little stores that have that kind of stuff. Very cheap, cute stuff.

Not so classy shopping, but I was on canal st last weekend and its covered with all kinds of sparkly hair stuff - every color imaginable! I recommend starting at Canal and Lafayette and working from there.
