Hair/Make-up Help Needed

I'm getting married in Southampton in Septmeber and would like a hair/make-up artist who will come to my house. I've tried Pauline, whose name I got off of this website, but she is booked on my date. Does anyone have any good recommendations?? Does anyone know if her friend Elana is any good?? Thanks so much!!

Hair/Make-up Help Needed

You can also try Kristen from Enchante in Smithtown. She is great but $150 for hair and $100 for makeup. Not sure what your budget is. Elena has gotten some great reviews and some not-so-great, I had a trial with her and she did a good job. I felt that my mascara was a bit too much, but that is easily corrected. She is also a good listener, If you tell her what you want she can re-create the style. The only word of caution is to have her come early. Some of the girls have complained that it took her a long time to get them ready the day of the wedding. But her price is good and she is reliable.

when did Kristen raise her prices?

I just called. Lisa, the prices you got were in the salon and the prices Michele got were if she came to you. I just spoke to one of the ladies at the salon and she said the prices double if Kristen has to come to your house. Is $100make-up/$150hair expensive or pretty average?

when did Kristen raise her prices?

Those are her in-salon prices. The prices I gave are for her to go to your home (or wherever you are getting ready).

Elena....

Im using her. I was happy with my trial. I think her forte is hair over makeup but she did a good job on both. As Michele said, she is a good listener and will replicate the style you ask for.

I was just wondering were in Southampton are you getting married? My fiance and I spend a lot of time there, and I was not aware of any public places to hold your reception. Are you doing a tented wedding? It is a beautiful place to have a wedding, what time of year is it? Let me know if you need any contacts out there. Good luck! Continued success to all...

total for hair and makeup to come to my house, quoted in January. I can't believe the hike!! I mean I know they ladies at the salon said that they were going to start adverstising here, and that people from all over were calling her, but come on! I'm going to the salon, but i wonder if she would charge me what she quoted in Jan. or what she charges now.

Hi Heather! My fiance and I rented one of those private mansions for the week. That way my whole family and his can stay there for the week and then we're going to have the wedding there on the Saturday, September 21. We're having the ceremony in the garden gazebo and the dinner around the pool and the party all over the house! Since you spend a lot of time out there, do you have any good hotel/motel/B&B recommendations?? I know there are tons but I was hoping to find the most reasonably priced, also if there are any with one night minimums that would be great. Also, do you know if there are any taxi services?? Because I was hoping to recommend to my guests who are staying in Southampton to just take a taxi or car service back and forth from their hotel to the wedding (to avoid drinking and driving and all that). Thanks so much for your help! Where/When are you getting married??

Hair/Make-up Help Needed

For makeup, try Marie Katz of Loving Color....her website is www.lovingcolor.com. She does a really beautiful job. I have tried three other artists before finding her. Her prices are comparable to other makeup artists. Definitely worth a try.

an explanation of Kristen's price hike

because of the amount of business and publicity she was getting, the salon determined a new pricing structure if she comes to you. She is still working through the salon when she comes to your house, so she still has to pay them a percentage. Since she's gotten so popular, she can't take off work every Saturday for weddings without compensating the salon - she's responsible to them and to her regular clients. She did mention that prices are lower for Sundays, cause she doesn't work at the salon on Sunday. Prices are also dependant on distance traveled and number of girls.
