How soon before your wedding did you start going on your hair and make up trials. I'm getting married in Feb, and I'm thinking of starting now (seem like fun!), but I'm afraid it may be too early. What do you think? TIA!

I am going to wait - because your hair could grow by then.....
plus if you go closer to your date, your stylist will have your ideas fresh in her mind.

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
I am a Feb. 2008 bride and I booked a vendor because I really liked them on the phone and heard great things about them on here BUT my trial will be Oct/Nov so my hair is grown out and I have better ideas!

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
i'm checking out hair and make up right now and i've got 10 more months to go. i wanna go for an initial trial to figure out whether i'm going to book the vendor and then schedule another trial closer to my wedding day to finalize the look.

I would start looking around. If you want any of the popular vendors they book up fast.

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
I'm trying to price it out since I don't have anyone who normally cuts my hair and I have no clue about makeup since I never wear it.
I was thinking about booking now but waiting 1 month before the wedding for an actual trial.
I just cut about 12 inches of hair for Locks of Love and i'm letting it grow out so its not worth it to do a trial. I'm miserable with short hair but at least it was a good cause

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
Definitely start early! I made the mistake of waiting to long to have my hair and makeup trials. I had 2 trials in the beginning of June at 2 different salons and I hated them both. I honestly thought that I wouldn't have a problem. I even had pictures of what i wanted. Boy was I wrong! My wedding is in three weeks and now I'm scrambling to find someone. Take my advice and start early!

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
I started a few months ago because I KNEW finding the right hair style was going to be a HUGE pain in the butt!! I still dont have it set in stone yet & we get married in 3 months. Id suggest starting to pick out -pictures of what you want to do and start a scrap book, then start doing trials in a few months. Youve got plenty of time to get it right =)

Re: Hair & Make Up Trials?
I booked make up and had a trial 6 months before the wedding. I booked hair and had a trial 3 months before. I would suggest booking these vendors as soon as possible as many of the talented ones fill up very quickly.

same here. I have my first trial on the 23rd. I've contacted 4 vendors this week and only 2 have gotten back to me so far.

My hairdresser said one month before the wedding because your hair wont change much in a month an dit gives you enough time to do a second or third if the first doesn't come out right.

Now that I think of it, that might be a good idea. I was thinking I might test out the person the next time I need a trim that way at least I know I like her work.
