Hi!.... I don't post often, but this one definately needed it!... I need help!... My hair salon, that I have been loyal to for ten years was going to open the shop early for my party (Sunday morning, August 6) and get us ready for the big day.... well, I went to finalize today, and they are now telling me that it will be $200 dollars for me and $125 for everyone else in my party... all because they are opening the shop an hour early!... Am I overreacting??? It is a 130 dollar mark up each, just to open the shop? And this does not include make-up! I just feel so insulted!
With that said, does anyone know of a place or someone/ team that travels or a salon for my hair and make-up... it is two months away, and I am beginning to panic!..... I live in Nassau, South shore! Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!.....

Re: Hair/ Make-up vent and advice?
I am sorry that they are trying to over charge you. That is very unfair.

For that pricing, I think they should be traveling to your house/hotel to do the entire bridal party's hair. I can see that you're in a difficult position though, because this is a place you've been going to for awhile and I'm guessing you want to continue going there. If you want to stick with this salon, I would say 'I've been a customer here for a really long time and so I'm really surprised that you've decided to increase the price so dramatically. From what I've heard, these prices are way above market for hair/makeup artists unless they are traveling to the bride's location. I hope we can work out a mutually acceptable arrangement.' Once you agree on a price, get it in writing so they can't get shifty on you again.
On the other hand, if you've decided to give them the boot, I used Maureen and Claudia Pedala for makeup and hair, respectively, and they were fantastic. Their studio is in NYC but for about the same price you're paying, they'll travel to your house or hotel. www.nyweddingmakeup.com
