hair & makeup - NEW QUESTION

ok, so eveytime i have ever had my hair done up...ive never been 100% happy. i def have liked a few, but never 100%.

does anyone know of any hair stylist in my area (oceanside - nassau county) or close to it and would come to my house???

also, if they know of a good make up artist that would come to my house as well.

i have seen all of the trials that the girls posted and they all came out great, but do any of them come to your house??

any suggestions......

Amanda, try Jen Hair Genie or Oksana for make-up. I'm using both and they have great reviews. If you need anything else let me know.

ok, so i dont want to sound cheap or anything, but i personally think paying someone $100. + to do my make up is just INSANE!!!!!!!!

i was looking at all the hair/make up ppl on the site and seriously, they are all on drugs!!!!!

i understand thats its your wedding day and you want to look your best, but come on...looking your best doesnt mean paying out the a**!!!!!!

wow, im really gonna have to research this more, bc i def am trying to keep cost down on everything.......

i dont want to offend anyone either if they are paying this amount, but for me its just too much..................

i understand that you aren't a fan of the prices. but you have to remember that you are paying for the convenience as well as the work. this person is coming to YOU at your home on your wedding day, and will personally do your MU and/or hair until YOU are satisfied. more often than not, they do more than 1 person...like members of the BP, or the MOB/MOG. if they charge about $100-150, that's actually not a crazy amount, considering they are traveling in their vehicle, coming to you....bringing their supplies with them, and working with you for 1-2 hrs.

i was feeling the same way you are when i first started looking--but i thought about it and realized that our hair/MU is probably 2 of the most important things we don't even realize! sure the DJ is important and the flowers...but 20 yrs. from now you will look at your pics, and if you don't look good, THAT is something you will remember and point out for many years to come!

ETA: i just wanted to add that many of the vendors on here...they specialize in wedding day make up. they know what colors look good in photographs...and the tricks for making sure you hair stays all day....and i think that is something worth a little extra $$. nothing against regular salons--but i feel good knowing that the person doing my hair/MU does this kind of work EVERY weekend for years
