Hair & Makeup??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Michelle-

I checked out Christie's and this is what I was told pricing wise

I agree, Christie's trial price turned me off too. They must do a lot of bridal parties b/c they have a dedicated 'bridal consultant'. I have been there before and they are definitely one of the more upscale places in the area. They were not terribly flexible for my morning wedding. The woman kept saying to me 'Don't worry, we'll have you out by 9:30' and I kept saying 'I need to be ready by 9:30' and she finally said 'OK, 9:00' I think that may even be cutting it close considering I have to drive home & get dressed still. I know it's really pretty early to need to be ready but I figured it may be easier to have 4 women get done at a salon than at home if we can be specially accommodated. That is how I felt about MaryAnne's - she was willing to specially accommodate us. I get facials done by her all the time and she is really terrific. She does make up and it is $50. Another woman there Bella, does updos. I didn't get a chance to ask if it is cheaper for a group. I am going to inquire though. Like I said, she told me $25 for the hair trial which sounded unbelievably inexpensive. If you have your headpiece, you should not have to wait. The sooner you feel settled about who is doing your hair & make up, the better. MaryAnnes is about 1 mile away from Christies, right off the Cross Island Parkway on 150th St & 14th Ave in Whitestone. The phone # is (718) 767-5502 It's not that far from Jackson heights.
What time do you need to be ready? What is your wedding date? Is it a Saturday?

Michelle-
The woman who showed me her photo album happened to have a pic of exactly what I wanted. I would think she could suggest some stuff but I would call, see if you feel that what you need is being understood. Then if you decide to go in for a trial, again, see if feel like you are being understood. At $25 for a trial, it's worth it. As for the distance, 12:00p is not a bad time to have to be ready...You could easily go there at 8 and be done and out and home with time to spare. How many girls need to be done? Still, if you are more confortable with something closer, Astoria would probably have some good places, although I can't suggest any since I haven't been in that area in awhile. Take some of the brides magazines and pull out pics of what you like and bring those with you. Someone had posted a website here a few weeks back and they had awesome updos I think it was www.houseoflords.com Try not to let this stress you out..I guarantee you will find someone and will be gorgeous. Just try to go for a trial (or 2 if you need to try another person) sooner than later so you can check this off on your checklist. Let me know if I can help you more, I'll be glad to :o)

Actually the website is www.house-of-lords.com

It sounds to me like your ex just wants to soothe his ego but proving that he can still get to you. No contact in 4 years? Doesn't sound like true love to me.

Great, I'm glad you had a good conversation with her. $35 isn't bad at all either...I know she said $25 but maybe I got a break b/c I am always forking over $$ to have my skin pampered :o) She does a great job on that by the way. I only have myself, my mother, MOH & 1 bridemaid Please let me know how it goes.
I am also debating on paying for them. I have a small wedding party so it is easier to consider, I was thinking of paying for one of their services, probably the hair.
