Hair, Makeup, Spray Tanning and Engagement party place

Hi! I am recently engaged! looking for some recommendations for an engagement party location or caterer (50 people) and figured I would start my hair,makeup and tanning trials for the party. any recomendations would be fantastic! I feel lost!

Christy Ann Cosmetics...I had my makeup trial with Victoria and she was absolutely amazing!! I booked her on the spot!

I get spray tanned in the city-- trust me the commute is worth it. I goto gotham glow-- her name is Tamar. She uses all natural products... and your tan is the furthest thing from orange. You get the most awesome bronze glow. If you google her you'll read tons of articles... i believe she does all the tanning for some magazine. hands down the best!

i had my engagement party at the View restaurant (also called the Riverview)....it's a lessings property out in oakdale...i had about 60 people for sunday brunch and it was fantastic....free unlimited mimosa's and the brunch spread includes crab legs, sushi, omelette station, etc etc etc....it's amazing!! the staff was soo attentive at clearing plates and making sure the mimosas were always filled....plus the place is gorgeous inside....you don't necessarily get your own private room, but my party was totally sectioned off....also you share the buffet with the whole restaurant and the line can get pretty long, but it moves quick man....everyone was so thrilled with the food and svc that day...it was fantastic!!

i also recommend lorraine hunter with bobbi brown in saks fifth avenue of huntington (in walt whitman mall) if you want a very natural, not overdone look...she uses all different lines of makeup from bobbi, to trish mcevoy to mac, etc....she's also extremely reasonably priced....

if you haven't spray tanned before, my one recommendation is shower beforehand and exfoliate really well and then moisturize before going tanning....the tan lasts longer when you've scrubbed off all the dead skin first and it goes on more evenly when your skin is moisturized...not everyone looks good with spray tan because some people just don't have the complexion to support it....but some places have different 'levels' and you may need to try it out a few times first...

I've never spray tanned but may try it this year just to see if it works for me!
For hair and makeup I definitely trust Metro Modes in Bellmore (or is it Merrick? I can't remember). I'll tell you my stylist if you'd like and I always see beautiful makeup coming out of there also!

Thank you for the recommendation, Im not a NYC gal. I think I will try Brazil Bronze (found them on LIW), I read alot of good things about them as well (they were in a ton of magazines) they have organic & natural products also. THANK YOU!

Lorraines makeup trial was EXACTLY what I was looking for - I just might use her! Brazil Bronze Express tan was PERFECT. I am using them for my engagement photo, I couldnt believe how natural it looked & how wonderful my skin felt! The riverview in Oakdale was SUPER accomodating. You guys have been so helpful! Thank you for all of the recs!

First of all- congrats! I have no advice for hair or an engagement party place, but I *always* spray tan at Beach Bum Tanning. They have locations all over- just make sure you do the custom airbrush tanning and not the booth (it comes out streaky).

I also recommend Stacy Doolan of About Face Artistry and Sandra Baldini.
