Hair Question

I have straight long hair but I love curly hair....do people get bodywaves anymore? What happens when they grow out?

If anyone knows and can recommend a place it would be great! I think I need a change after growing my hair so long for the wedding. Here is a pic of my current hair:

I've always wanted curly hair (I guess we all want what we can't have right? LOL). I remember so many people getting them in the 80's and even the early 90's but I have no idea if its still done, or if its going to be huge maintenance once it starts growing out....
