Hair question

Hair question

OK, this might sound silly, but I just thought of it...

I'm going to have my hair and makeup done on site the day of my wedding. Do you wash your hair at home before it's done? Does she dry it for you, or do you dry it yourself? I tend to find that when I dry my hair myself it isn't as nice looking as when I get it blown out at the salon, so I just thought of this.

Re: Hair question

They actually say hair holds a style better when it is a little dirty, so if I were you I'd wash and dry it the day before, not the day of.
I actually didn't wash my hair for two days before the wedding, I just used dry shampoo so it wouldn't get greasy.

Re: Hair question

I guess it depends how you want to wear your hair! I've always been told not to wash the day of an up-do -- but my hair is oily, so I always wash it/dry it myself and it's always come out fine. But if you are wearing you're hair down, you might want to let them blow it out. I would ask who ever is doing your hair...she might have a preference or a suggestion!

Re: Hair question

Defintely do not wash your hair for a couple of days. The style will hold so much better!!!!

Re: Hair question

they usually say to wash your hair the day before... do you best to dry it straight and they will go over it with a dryer if need be for your specific look. If you have any questions im sure you could ask your hair stylist too!!

Re: Hair question

I'll def ask my hair stylist (when I choose her!) but I was just wondering how other people do it.

I'm planning on wearing my half up (mostly down) and curled. My hair gets greasy looking if I don't wash it everyday, so I'll have to see what she recommends. I think I'll just wake up really early (as if I'd sleep at all!) and wash and dry it a few hours before. I usually wash, dry and flat iron every day anyway!

Re: Hair question

Definitely wash your hair the night before. It helps to hold curls and other style when its a little 'Dirty'. If you have hair like me, thin and striaght, it can be very difficult to style when you wash it the day of. The hairstylist can use stuff to 'dirty' it up, but its best if you wash the night before :)

I have greasy hair too if I don't wash it everyday. But if you wash it at night and blow it out , it will be fine the next day and the hair spray will make the hair look darker anyway, so even if by any chance itw as to look greasy, it wouldn't really matter.

Re: Hair question

My hair took a really long time to do but that is because I washed it in the same day I got my hair done. The day before I had gotten highlights so I didnt have the time to sit and wait. If you can, wash it a day or two before.
How are you doing your hair? Sometimes when it is with curls stylist prefer to dry your hair with hot rollers so that the curls will hold.

Re: Hair question

I asked my stylist what she wanted and said since my hair is curly and I wanted it straight for the wedding, she would call me when was 15 minutes away and I would jump in the shower. So by the time she got there, I was showered and my hair was wet so she could blow dry.

Ask your stylist.

Re: Hair question

I had my hair washed and dry, ready to go when my hair girl got to the hotel. we started at 3am there was no way I was getting up any earlier for her to do all that! plus I'm sure she would have charged a lot more which IMO wans't worth it since I was able to do it myself

Re: Hair question

definitely ask the person who will be doing your hair. I had always heard that it's better to go with dirty hair. But my stylist recommended to me that I wash and dry my hair that morning since I tend to have oily hair if it hasn't been washed that day. She said that for some people it's better to leave it unwashed, but for others, if it's oily, there's no way to get rid of that greasy look.
Either way, I don't think you should leave your hair wet, since that will add more time to the entire process. At least if your hair is dry and ready to be styled, you will be able to devote more time to getting it to look perfect.

I wouldn't wash it the day of. I would wash it either a day or 2 before. You want it to hold really good for the day of your wedding.

Ha! It might hold really well if I didn't wash my hair for 2 days but it would look greasy, almost wet! Haha.

Thanks for all the advice!
