Hair Straightening?

Hair Straightening?

I have been thinking about quite some time now about getting my hair professionally straightened!

Can someone tell me where to go? And how much something like this is. I heard it last 6 months and when I thought it was only 2. I thought it would be great cause it would save me time and save me $$ on all the styling products I use and the hair iron itself.

I need details on how it is done!!! Thanks Ladies!

I had my hair chemically straightened years back and it was the worst thing I could've done. It was FRIZZY and not curly at all. The whole point of getting it straightened was so I wouldn't have to blow it out...but I did, and it fried my hair. To make matters worse, when it grew back in it looked totally ridiculous, imagine kinky roots and straight ends. I have very curly hair on top, so that's why it didn't work for me, if you have looser curls it might not be so bad. I thought about getting that Keratin treatment, until I read that they use formaldehyde in it (which is a known carcinogen).

BTW - all the pics on here with straight hair are compliments of my WONDERFUL hairdresser...she can blow it out in 45 minutes flat - me, not so much!

Hi, I get mine done at Hayato in NYC.. here's a previous thread about it that I had posted before and after pics on, also gave some info about the place. FM for any questions if you have

Japanese Straightening

Do a search for 'hayato' here on LIW.. there are a bunch of girls on here that go there, all have good things to say

Hair Village is amazing. I get my hair done there too. Love that place. I highly recommend them. It definitely is like a factory but well worth it. I am actually going with my sister this Saturday so she can get her hair done.

what straightening are you looking to do? i do the brazillian keratin treatment .. i am a hairdresser in amityville.. if yu have any questions fm me.. i have it in my hir and it is absolutly amazing! it takes me a 1/4 of the time to blow my hair out and the frizz factor alone is incredable it last about 3-4 mnths on chemical treated hair and 2-3 months on virgin hair.. we use marcia textera brazilian keratin treatment you can google it and read more abot it! to be honest it is the best thng you can do for yur hair !!! hope this helps=)

I recommend the Brazilian keratin treatment. It's not a straightening agent, but a de-frizzing one. It worked on my curly hair! It's still curly but not frizzy.

hair village is hands down THE BEST PLACE TO GO!!! it's so easy to get there: LIRR to woodside, and it's right down the street on Rosevelt Ave! It can't get any easier.
The first time I had my hair straightened, i had it done on LONG ISLAND and paid over $600, and it didn't work! i would never go out here again. I have had it done like 7 times out at hair village, they charge $180 and it's awesome. And, last time i was there in december, they told me they may be opening up a salon out here on LI :)

if you go during the week, after 12 pm when schools are in session, you will be out of there in 3 hours. that's what i do :) they are usually a little slower at that time, and you don't even have to blowdry your own hair :)

I am really interested in doing this....if you don't mind me askin, what was your hair like before you had it done the first time? Do you have color treated hair? Is your hair dry/damaged at all? What is your hair routine now? I REALLY want to do this!!! My hair is colored, very wavy/curly and dry and so incredilby frizzy!!! TIA

Not sure where you had it done, but everything I have read about straightening just means it's easier for you to blow out your hair. Your hair won't be pin straight.

Can I blow out my hair like my stylist? Heck no!

my hair is pin straight after having it straightened, even if I let it air dry after a shower.

Re: Hair Straightening?

I had Braziliam done in Aug at Salon soho (i think thats the name) in Bellmore. Their # is 785-2800.

It's cosmetic level formaldehide, but it made my throat scratchy the week I had to keep it in and again when I blow dried my hair. I wouldnt do it again. Maybe Im just sensative b/c nail polish remover gives me a sore throat too.

My hair was straight, but not pin straight. its sorta growing out no b/c I get frizzies by my ears again.

She does japanese straitening too.
