My SIL went there and so have a few of her friends. They all love it. When I get the nerve to do this, that's where I'm going too!

Oh my goodness, I want to go sooooo bad but I am nervous. Did they have color or anything in their hair before they did it? Thats why I am nervous. The girl that I know that did it didnt have any color or anything and its so nice and its stick straight.

Me & my friend go here for blowouts & highlights. I was just there last week.
My other friend gets her hair straightened there.

Be prepared for a LONG LONG wait unless you go on a weekday ay 9am, even for a blow out, otherwise you will be there ALL day!!

I went!!!! It is the best thing I ever did!!! I got the reco from am470 on here. I was a little nervous but my hair came out great. It is crowded but I went on a friday. You should go on a Tuesday or Wed and be the first appt. Feel free to ask me any questions. I color my hair (semi-perm) to get rid of my gray) If you have highlights they put on a special conditoner to protect it. You can go in and ask them if you can get it done. It is just a little hard to understand them. Nobody speaks english. They do speak spanish (as well as japanese)

The thing I'm worried about the most is the roots and how they will look when it grows back in.

I get it done. I haven't done it there but I can tell you about the roots....

I have done it 4 times. I go every 6 months. THe roots really aren't as bad as you think. You will see a little frizz when it starts to grow in only because the rest of your hair is so stick straight and shiney. But you can blow it out and it looks fine. Also takes a lot less time that before getting hte japanese straightening. Also, a little serum goes a long way...

Jenn-my hair is healthier now than before I did it.

Also, how much is it at this place in Woodside?

I think it's $160-my stepmom paid $160 i think...

I don't know what my friend paid.

People say their hair feels healthier. I go for blow outs because my hair is naturally wavy so I get them only when I am going out somewhere. I can never blow my hair like they do.

I heard its like $190. Soooooooooo cheap. Thats why I want to do it. How curly was your hair before you did it?

Whats funny is I have been going to this place for over a year and I see so many women get it done & I am still chicken!

Re: Hair Village in Woodside for Japanese straightening

$190? You're kidding right?...I pay $600. I went to my place because FI's sister got it done there and I wanted to go somewhere I trusted. Plus I got it first done when it just became popular, so not many places were doing it. Now I trust my guy and don't want to go somewhere else because they use different brands everywhere.

My hair was very curly. Frizzy nasty curly. Not pretty. I used to have to flat iron it to get the curl out. Blowing it out didn't even always work. It woudl look straight then kink up like an hour later. Now I walk out of the shower and let it air dry pin straight. WHen it is cold out like recently, I just use blow it without a brush for like 10 minutes. I use my fingers and ta da!!

Best money ever spent!

Kim don't you color your hair?

Kim921 Posted:

Re: Hair Village in Woodside for Japanese straightening

T- No, I don't color my hair. It is dark dark brown, almost black...But, even if I did color my hair I could have it done. FI's sister colors her hair and they just use a protector before the actual chemical goes on..not a problem.

I go to Space downtown. The owner does my hair. He won't take any more clients to do this too because it takes so long. He does me the favor because FI's sister has been going to him FOREVER! I think they charge closer to $900 for the process. He just TOTALLY hooks us up!

I guess I'll try the Woodside place when I work up enough nerve to do it Thanks anyway though Kim.

Don't be scared!!! If you know enough people who get it done there and they love it just do it. I am telling you it is amazing! It is seriously the best money I ever spent..

I don't worry about my hair anymore. I get caught in the rain and it still dries STRAIGHT!!

Re: Hair Village in Woodside for Japanese straightening

To not have to worry about my hair would be great. I dont even go out for lunch when its raining after I get a blow out, its so pathetic. I'm sure you know the feeling. I think I'll try it.

YES. I know the feeling! DO IT!!! I promise you won't regret it. Go for a consultation. Is your hair strong now?

I will warn you...it makes your hair feel much thinner! If you have thin hair to begin with I don't know how it will work, but the hair dresser should be able to tell you. I have really thick hair, so now it feels normal..
