OK so I cut my hair a little above shoulder length last weekend, not even realizing that I want long hair for my wedding in 3/2012 and now I'm freaking out....does anyone know if hair vitamins work lol....

don't know about that - but as crazy as it sounds - prenatal vitamins did the trick for me last year when i was trying to grow my hair out. (i wasn't pregnant and bought them at cvs)

I have heard that before! Were you fine with taking the pre natal vitamins? They didn't give you any sort of side effects did they?

Yep! GNC makes a mix called hair skin and nails, kinda smells funcky but its a great vitamin. Also, all women of child bearing age should be on pre-natal vitamins...they are perfect for all of us. Plus if your trying to have a baby, it gives you the right amount of folic acid, which you need to prevental neural tube defects.

I cut my hair short about 6 months ago...and after I did it all I wanted was my long hair back. I so badly wanted to get the 'hair vitamins' but my hair dresser told me they don't work..boo
but if you find something that you think does the trick...do share!!

They don't make your hair grow faster, but they will make your hair shafts and nails stronger.

well I kinda feel like biotin does work. I can't tell that quickly with my hair, but my nails grow so fast when I'm taking biotin that I can't keep up with them. Sometimes it's annoying! So I can only hope that it's doing the same for my hair...

Im on pre-natal from my OBGYN...and not pregnant either...she put me on it soley for my skin and hair.
the only side effect it can have is constipation for some people, but thats the same with any vitamins... :)

Definitely try the Biotin pills, but don't worry you still have plenty of time to grow it! My hair always grows faster after a good cut anyway. And if worse comes to worst, there's always extensions!

I just asked my brother (the mad bio-chemist) - he works for Pfizer. He said if you are already taking a daily vitamin (like Centrum) you are getting 30 mg of Biotin which is 10% DV. He recommends taking an additional 50-100mg more per day but no more than that because it's not good to overdo it.

Omega 3 fish oil !! I cut off 13 inches of my hair (cut up to the bottom of my ears) to donate to Wigs for kids last February. It hasn't even been a year yet and my hair is already an inch past my shoulders. I take 1250 mg a day. It has also helped my skin it aaaaamaziiiing!

The constipation is from the iron, which every woman should be on as well. If it really becomes a problem, a little bit of colace can help....plus increase the fiber intact!!! fiber one is yummmmmy!

That article is 100% right! Neural tube defects are horrible and the only way to protect against them is to have enough folic acid before you even realize that you are preg.

i think you have plenty of tiem to keep cutting your ends and trimming your hair in time for a 2012 wedding. however, if you want to take vitaminds, do not take the ones you can get in a drug store, like Duane Read or CVS. go to like the Vitamin Shoppe or a store like that and get Vitamin B pills
