haircut?

haircut?

hi everyone -

i need to get a hair cut. i mean, like a whole new style. problem is, i don't know what to do with my hair!

can anyone recommend a really great hair salon in suffolk county? i mean, one where i can walk in to my appointment and say 'do whatever you think will look best because i just don't know'?

some background... i'm normally a supercuts/lemon tree kind of girl. you know, trim just enough maybe once a year.
yeah, really pathetic. thing is, i'm tired of my all one length hair in a ponytail. hoping to get a job soon (after a year and a half of being a stay at home mom!) and am hoping to do something with my hair to make me feel a bit more confident.

any ideas???

thanks!

can you send a pic of what your hair looks like now?

ummm, ok, nassau is do-able. so long as i don't have to trek into that pit called manhattan. i might wind up eating myself to death or something. (oh, how i miss the food there!) or shopping myself into a broke stupor.

how on earth do i send a picture on here? ok, give me a bit to even find a picture (or somehow get one) and then figure out how to send it on here. easy to describe though. mousy medium/dark brown. more grays than i would like. all one length. sits at my shoulders. except that its ALWAYS pulled into a ponytail. wavy from the neck down, straight from root to neck.

i've never known what to do with my hair. i hate it at this point! if i have to go somewhere fancy, i just twist it into a sort of modified french twist and clip it with my 'jaws of life' clip - the only clip that breathes any life into my boooooooring hair.

well, thanks for answering! i'll see what i can do about getting a pic of the very untrendy, stay at home mom that i've become. in fact, i'll even try to get one where i'm not wearing yoga pants and my husbands ratty, 7 year old gym shirt from the police academy! LOL

kindly,
susan

i use amy at denise lee in stonybrook/setauket... they are also a vendor on here, and if you go to their website i think there is a coupon for first time customers...

i used to go to Bocu in commack, but my girl retired...

tcarlton in st james is also very good...

thanks for all the suggestions!

i heard about denise lee from a shop owner down port. maybe i'll give them a ring, as it is only a couple of minutes from me.

i see there are a few different levels of stylists... is it worth it for me to go to the top level? (as i said.. i am traditionally a super cuts/lemon tree kind of gal! you don't get much of a choice at a walk-ins kind of place! LOL)

well, thanks for the suggestions!

kindly,
