Hi girls. I originally was planning on booking Jenn and Oksana.
I researched many photo gallerys and realized their prices were pretty reasonable and they both do great work. So after a few pleasant emails with them, I figured ok, let me book them and set up a trial when I purchase my veil.
But the day after I wrote out two $20 checks to them, I received an email from Oksana saying they both are changing their depsit to $50 now, to hold the date. I automatically took out my check book, and then it hit me... Isn't $100 when my wedding is over a year away, kind of a bit much? I mean I just wanted to get things done early, so i wont have to worry about all this next year, this time..
Did anyone else have to put down that much to book a day??

Re: hair/make up deposit $$?
i reserved my date when it was still $20 but i would have paid $50.
actually sometimes i wish i could get some of the payments out of the way NOW when i actually still have money!
honestly, i knew i really wanted them so it wasn't an issue for me!

Re: hair/make up deposit $$?
honestly i dont think its that bad at all...And just like Tilde said why not get some of it out of the way now...Towards the end you're going to have alot of money to owe to all vendors so many payments to give, makes things easier
Plus its less than some others

Re: hair/make up deposit $$?
Actually I think a larger deposit is a great idea, not only for them but for us (in the long run). There are girls that will put a deposit on anyone they can reserve for their date. Girls might reserve their dates that don't end up using their services the day of because it is so cheap to reserve the date. At least with a $50 deposit they know that the girls are serious. $40 isn't that much to lose but $100 is, and if you are serious it just goes towards their services the day of your wedding anyway.

You can have a trial anyway without holding your date., you just have to take a chance..but if you go and book them and they are booked already that 50 dollar deposit is going to seem Petty!
