hair/make up - need advice

hair/make up - need advice

So, my sisters wedding is coming up, and her stylist told her it will be 350 for her hair/make up, and 250 for hair/make up for each bridesmaid. She is not coming to the house. does this seem like a lot?? What do others charge?

That's a lot!!!!!!!!! My make-up is costing $90 and hair is somewhere in that range! That is still a lot especially if she is not coming to the house--

so $175 for hair and $175 for make up, well its not that unusual actually. And bm's are $125 for hair and $125 for make up.

If she is not happy with the price tell her to hire someone else

Most of the ones I have looked into who come to you charge around 300 for hair and makeup for the bride. For BM around 100-150. The only one I've seen who charged 350 included a headpiece and she stays until the first dance for touchups, so she does do extra stuff...

Yea for BM's i think it is a little excessive!!!

you can definitely find it for a better price, so maybe have her check other salons or contact vendors that come to you the day of

This is her stylist...so she feels obligated to go to her, now that she knows about the wedding and did the trial. I on the otherhand dont feel obligated in any way LOL... Im gonna just go to my salon if my sister is OK with it. I just wanted to make sure that i wasnt off base with pricing.

nobody should feel obligated though. She should do what she feels best.

No its not off base, yes its more expensive that some but ive seen that price alot too. I ve seen even more expensive than that at salons. Well even my hair and make up vendors are more expensive, but its who i really wanted. Some of my girls are going to a salon that is not far from me to get their hair and make up done. But then i also have a bm who is getting just hair bc she never wears any make up and is allergic to alot of it. My cousins are getting make up done somewhere but they are good with hair and doing their own.

I think it's a lot...the m/u artists I have had trials with only charge $100 and that's to travel to you. The highest price I've seen is $300 for both hair and m/u and that's including traveling. If your sister is unhappy she should check other vendors...she can be honest and tell her stylist that she didn't realize it cost that much and it's not in her budget, etc. GL

Its not excessive if the stylist is wasting her whole day coming to you! If you are coming to the salon its very expensive.

Do you mind sharing who you are using?? I'm just starting to look into hair and makeup and that sounds very reasonable. Thanks!

I see prices ranging from $250 - $500 for the Brides (which includes the trials) not for BMs. That is totally insane. The prices for BMs should range from $50-75 for makeup and $65-$95 for hair (depending length of hair and style).

That seems like way too much.

The price is really high!

And, then your sister has to travel to her. No way!!

HM807 Posted:

Re: hair/make up - need advice

She is NOT traveling to my sister... we have to go to her salon. PLUS she charged 200 for the hair and m/u trail. She charged me 75 for my hair trial.
