Hey - does anyone know of a good (not super expensive) salon in the city to get hair and makeup done? This isn't for my wedding, but I am a BM in my best friends wedding which is in the city in April and want to get my hair & makeup done...

Manhattan - I live in Manhattan and the wedding is in Manhattan....
I was hoping to spend no more than like $150 - $200....do u think that is reasonable?? I've really never done both hair and makeup in the city....almost all the weddings I've been in have been in LI!

Well, I can HIGHLY recommend my vendors : Hair: Marina Vance Makeup: Kimara Ahnert --check reviews on the Knot, but both are tops and do extemely beautiful work. A bit higher on the price you mentioned esp. makeup.

I will say that their reputations are superlative! They do a lot of well known faces -- that is why the price is so outrageous, but their work is amazing!

I'm using Maureen Pedala for mekeup, and I think a few other people on this board are too. She's located in Manhattan, and her trials are free if you come to her studio. I think her website is http://www.nycweddingmakeup.com.
