Hello Ladies. I am new to the board! I am getting married May 2001 and I am knee-deep in planning.

We are about to make our hall choice and I am looking for input -any opinions on Port Jeff CC, Miller Place Inn, or Danfords? I am not originally from this area.

All three are excellant choices. I have nothing negative to say about any, only positive. The only factor should be your personal taste, since the venues are each so different. Hi, I personally loved Miller Place Inn. Food was fabulous! Very professional staff. PJCC was nice too, cocktail hour I went to was just ok. I'm getting married next June at Danford's (it was a struggle between MPI and there). Danford's can only hold up to 130 people, where the other 2 can hold many more. I loved Danford's because it was different and not typical of a LI wedding. Also, everyone can spend the night there and they have a nice brunch the next day. Everyone has their own tastes though. hi layla, i'm getting married at pjcc october 8th, 2000..i also looked at danfords.. pjcc can accommodate between 100-225 people and i love the fact that its on a cliff overlooking the sound. i know that danfords can accommodate a smaller crowd but is also in a great spot!! i live right around the corner from it and its such a wonderful area. i don't know about your other choice, but if you want anymore info about pjcc feel free to email me! take care and happy planning! -leighann

Is it so true what everyone has been saying. It really boils down to a matter of taste! This is so hard, and Im sure it will only get harder as we have to make more and more decisions!!

I really like the water view at PJCC also. Amazing. I wasnt to crazy about their inside cocktail hour room, and if the weather is bad and it ends up inside, I wont be too thrilled. BUT they were most within my price range.

I am getting married in Febuary and I chose Flowerfield Celebrations in St.James. Once I went there, I didn't look anywhere else. It is a little pricey, but it is well worth every penny I am spending.

Hello everyone! I am trying to start checking out florists and photographers. I went to a florist today and realized I need more background information in order to continue my search. The women there suggested I look through magazines to start gathering ideas of what we want. For example, pedestal types table arrangements or table top, color scheme, floral types, etc. Can anyone suggest a good bridal magazine where they have seen floral arrangements. Also, does anyone have any good websites to see styles and price ranges? Thanks and hope everyone's planning is going well! Jeannine

You are definitely not alone. Coincidentally, I had my first last night. I dreamt I went looking for dresses and headpieces and all they had were old outdated dresses and black veiled headpieces (haha I should get out my dream interpretation book on that one) But my matron of honor is getting married a few months before us and she sais she's been having them also. It is a stressful event, albeit a wonderful thing, but still...stressful. The bright side is that sigh of relief when you wake up right???

layla, all of these halls offer something different and outstanding about them. but try to focus on the real questions as you shop around. price menu amount of staff age and experience of staff food tasting...remember every chef has there own style, thats why we have our own favorite restauarants are there other weddings....will you have to wait for another bride to vacate.... how much is overtime? check out the valet parking...why have you ever been p___d at the first impression of a place by the parking attendent....well think of your guests... how much are additional hot/cold dishes during cocktail.... how much for an additional course during dinner?? what is there table setting like...look at the quality of their dishes, utensils, glasses......look at it....look at it set up also....(not pictures) look at their linen...set up on tables.... what is their room guarantee will they hold you to it.....get it in writing..... get everything in writing.... and whereever you or anyone books....absolutely do not , i repeat do not sign the contract with exclusions towards you...esp demanding that you use their vendors, and the dos and donts about your desires/vendors......have a great wedding, but protect yourselves..... so a place may be pretty.....but you can't tell a book by its cover!!!!!!!...quality should not be just superficial, lets see how deep it goes with the hall of your choice, o.k.
