hall question

Am I just being silly or do you think this is valid..................I had told a friend about my top two choices for my wedding, then she got engaged, now one of my places is where she is having her engagement party, the other *my top choice* is where she is having her wedding.......................I'm not really angry but kind of sad? so do you think im nuts?

Re: hall question

I don't think you are wrong for being disappointed but keep in mind, a lot of times people who are friends have similar likes and dislikes so maybe it is just possible that this place is a place that she really likes too.

Don't let it get in the way of your friendship.

Re: hall question

no your not crazy.. we all have weirdo friends like that.. out of all the halls ?!? lol
I had one who I barely knew.. and she heard where I was getting married.. I swear THE WEEK she got engaged she ran there and booked it.. shes not even from this country and had never seen another hall.. and it didnt bother her ... it really pissed me off.. and then to top it all off she told mutual friends that I booked after her and was trying to copy every little thing she did!!! Meanwhile I booked it before she was engaged! ( sorry for the vent) - I feel petty when I get mad at that stuff but it passes...
BTW your sis LOOKS GORGEOUS!!!!

Re: hall question

I have to say I'd be kind of annoyed myself. It's like she is trying to bite your style big time!

Oh the other hand....maybe you should be flattered?

I wouldn't go into too much details with her about your wedding planning, b/c it seems like she might take other ideas as well.

Sorry!

Re: hall question

TY for the compliment to my sister and making me feel less 'nuts' I am just a little sad not angry really but really of all the halls on LI one of them has to be used for her engagment party?

BTW----she is an amazing person and I'd never let this ruin our friendship, but it hurt a bit

I've learned to limit the details..people are strange and althought it's a form of flattery it's not cool

Re: hall question

no I dont' think ur crazy, everyone amongst friends likes to have their 'own' hall....I had a prob like that alhtough a friend of mine had her reception at crest hollow 6 yrs ago, i still felt bad taking it, however after soo much search it just was the only one that made me happy...so what i did, is i took a different room...
although my friend didnt mind or care, it bugged me, so ur not crazy, did she book a different room at least?

Re: hall question

i would assume her wedding is first?

that is kinda rude..i'm sure she didn't mean to do it on purpose but there are a ton of places to have wedding...she didn't have to pick the 2 you were planning and thinking about

You are taking it very well and you are an awesome individual. I however, would be LIVID........that is so uncalled for. Iti is more of that crazy gene that is triggered of by weddings. Why does she have to get married at the same places you mentioned. I am sure she had it in her mind when she met with them...........peolpe can be so silly. I am all for swapping ideas if need be but the hall, and dresses are sacred

to you.

Re: hall question

I kind of see what you are saying, but I wouldnt be upset though. Look at how many of us are getting married at the same places...

I always loved that song by Shania and Bryan something or other for my wedding and then my best friend got married first and used my song! (after she made fun of me for it for years) I am using it anyway!

Re: hall question

Sorry it worked out that way. You could look at it this way, that you picked two very nice halls that are very popular. I can understand why you are upset but I am sure you will have a wonderful wedding.

Tracy who did this ??
is it a close friend or just a friend

Wow ...she is using both of your top two choices ...that is kinda fcked up ...
If it was just one then I don't think it would have been such a big deal ...
but not many people have engagement parties in a wedding hall so that would make me wonder if she is doing it to be spiteful!

Also are the same people attending your wedding as are attending hers ?
And is she the type of girl who will act like
'o m g ..she's getting married in the same place i had my engagement party' (as if you copied her )
or is she the kind of girl who will be happy and excited you guys are having a wedding in the same place??

Me myself would factor this in before I acted differently towards her or discussed it with her ...

Re: hall question

I must say, my MOH was considering having her shower in at my hall (before I booked it). Once I told her I was booking there, she backed off so as not to take away from my day. I would have been slightly annoyed about it but moved on - I think many times friends do have the same tastes and preferences. Good luck and try not to let it get to you!! Maybe you could do some of the little extra cute things that all of the girls on LIW are always talking about: slippers, chocolate fountain, etc. to differentiate your party from hers! Make sure NOT to mention any of them to her though!!! Good luck with the rest of your planning!!!

Re: hall question

I don't know how I'd take it. On one hand I'm sure I'd be annoyed but on the other hand I would probably be a little honored that she must respect my opinion A LOT to choose BOTH places that I was considering for events.

A friend of ours is getting married at our location one week after our wedding. I was a little upset at first but, realized that it just did not matter to me. My wedding is going to be wonderful and so is her's.

Hey Tia---It's a very good friend from HS. She is really such a sweet kind hearted person, I don't think she did it to be spiteful but it still hurts. She will be happy for me no matter what, I think, so I am okay with it, I'm so happy for her but I really do wish she wouldn't have choosen both of them to have her special days.

Re: hall question

no your not crazy... id probably be annoyed cause if i told her two i would expect her not to use both... but do what you want.. your wedding will be personalized to you so it doesnt matter if she had it there...
