Halloween Costumes??

We decided to have a Halloween Party at our house this year, since it is on a Friday. Any costume ideas? Something creative and sexy...It doesn't have to be a couple thing...

Re: Halloween Costumes??

I posted about this a few weeks ago on Newlyweds and i got some cute ideas if you want to do a search.

If you want something really sexy, Fredericks of Hollywood has some really hot costumes this year!

Im going to be a Geisha this year...hardly sexy...but you could spice it up if you are willing to stray from authencity :D

Ive been Cher - you could make a sexy Cher or just do a mod 60s outfit like Twiggy or the Fembots.

Re: Halloween Costumes??

Im not sure if they still have it but there is a shop on 23rd Street Btween 5th and Madison (its the only real clothing shop on that block other than a $10 store) that had the white marilyn dress for months in their window.

Re: Halloween Costumes??

InStyle magazine has a bunch of websites for Halloween costumes and other Halloween things in this month's issue.

I love Halloween, and always go all out, but this year I'll be so close to my due date that I may not feel like celebrating.

Re: Halloween Costumes??

Sonicstef,

DH and I were planning on dressing up at Sonny and Cher this year (since we look the part). Should I look at Fredricks for the Cher outfit? Any pointers on how to pull her look off?

Re: Halloween Costumes??

I dont think Fredericks has the Cher outfit.

Our costume was a bit homemade so here is what i did:

Cher
a) went to cheap womens clothing store (like joyce leslie) and got a top that was suitably 70s.
b) Took some old stretch pants and made them bellbottoms by slitting them up the side about 18 inches and then sewing some coordinating fabric (matching the top) in between.
c) Long black wig, fake lashes with glitter on them, lots of eye makeup
d) very high heeled shoes - the more you tower over your husband the better

Sonny:
a) Sonny like wig and mustache
b) Made a 'furry' vest by getting the furry material at the fabric shop and sewing (not a good seamstress so it was pretty haggard looking but okay for this purpose) into a vest
c) Black turtleneck and black pants

Sonicstef

Thank you so much for talking the time to give such a descript recap.

I will definately take your advice home to Frank tonight. I love the idea of the pants for me. Something crafty that I can actually pull off. Might try to blow my hair out straight. Will look for the lashes. Not quite sure how we'll pull off the vest, but every picture I've seen of Sonny back then has the exact style you're talking about. May try to fringe the bottom of the vest too.

And the heels, having 5 inches over Frank while barefoot will help, I'm sure. This will be one of the few chances I have to wear heals without him asking me to crouch. I can't wait!

Note to self. Must.find.more.costumes.in.which.to.wear.heals.for.future. Psssst...any suggestions welcome.

Thanx again stef.
