For yours, how about something along the lines of 'put to death for killing her husband'?

Cool decorations Stef...where did you get the tombstones done??? I decorated the front of my door with a fake huge spider covered in spider webs and then put little mini spiders in there too and then just put up the spider web on the handrails of the front steps and some also along the walls cuz they stick so easily onto brick walls so it looks cool.
Stef...my dad has a lot of tombstones (halloween is his big decoration holiday)...he actually called Disney to get the sayings they had at the Haunted House...
the ones I can remember are.. 'Ima Witch' 'I told you I was sick'
I'll have to call and get a picture to scan in too...
are you putting them in your front yard? just a warning...people like to steal them...my dad had to chain them down into the grass...and still people come out to try and take them...

Re: Halloween Decorations: Tombstones
Bedda: I did them myself .. they take forever though.
Erica: yea, Im worried about them getting stolen too. I would be royally pissed. The problem is i only have 'dirt' in my front porch area or way, way in the backyard where no one will see them. The rest of my exterior space is concrete.
I was thinking of putting htem on the concete area near my front door (harder to steal b/c you have to be right next to my window to get them) but then i need a ton of leaves to cover the bottoms so it looks like dirt AND i have no idea how to get them to stand up if I dont have a stick to put them in the ground.
Do you or your dad have any ideas about that?

Re: Halloween Decorations: Tombstones
I went to Home Depot and bought a package of styroforam. (i got the cheapest package they had for 6 sheets for about $5).
I cut out the shapes using this little knife that came with my pumpkin kit. Its not perfect but its good enough.
Then I 'carve' the lettering out with an exacto knife. I slice about half way thru and then scrape out that piece.
I paint regular black paint in the creavase of the letters and then put a quick coat over hte whole thing (very sloppy)
Then I spray paint the whole thing with a coat of gray and add blotches of black and blotches of mossy green.
I didnt really believe it was going to look okay but i figured it was worth a try but it actually looks pretty cool. If i had known they were going to work, i probably would have bought the thicker styrofam.

Here's some from the Haunted Mansion:
Here Lies Dear Departed Dave, He chased a bear into a cave.
In memory of our patriarch, Dear Departed Grandpa Marc.
Requiescat Francis Xavier, No time off for good behavior.
Here Lies A man named Martin, The lights went out on this old Spartan.
Master Gracey Laid To Rest No mourning please at his request
Rest in Peace Brother Gordon Now you've crossed the river Jordan
Rest in Peace Cousin Huet We all know you didn't do it
In Memorium Uncle Myall Here you'll lay for quite a while
Here Lies Good Old Fred A great big rock fell on his head
Rest in Peace Mr. Sewell The victim of a dirty duel
At Peaceful Rest Lies Brother Claude Planted here beneath this sod
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stef - they look great!!
My boss made one last year from a cutout of his doghouse. When his wife got home she burst out laughing because he put RSVP on it instead of RIP
Wow, a lot of work is right! I could see cutting out on styrofoam would be a pain in the arse! They look great though.
Re: Halloween Decorations: Tombstones
All those epitaphs are great - but they are long!! I dont know if i have the patience!
Im making some more this weekend..hopefully my patience hold up.
not sure what to do about securing styrofoam (my dad used wood)...do you have a railing by your stoop? maybe you could secure it to that? its really anything that adds time to getting them out that helps...
I called my sister...she'll get back to me on the other sayings they have...
