Halloween Parties
I'm hosting my 1st halloween party and I want to do something really cool. I haven't been to one since I'm a kid. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas from parties they have been to or had. I really appreciate it!

Re: Halloween Parties
I always LOVE to bob for apples. You can give prizes for people who get an apple.hmmm. I have to think about this one.

Re: Halloween Parties
We did lucky bucks at the door. It was sort of cool and I think the pot was over $75.00. We also did a variety of costume contests (best couple, most scariest, most funny, etc.). We gave away those little plastic pumpkins you put candy in with little shot-sized bottles of liquor. The best costume got a bottle of wine. It doesn't matter the size of the item, people just like 'winning' stuff I've found.

Re: Halloween Parties
We are having one as well...and I think we will just concentrate on food...any hor dourves that can be pressed flat and cut into shapes? cookies, brownies, meatballs, etc...
we once had worm jello shots...make your jello and in a quart milk container...cut off the top and put in 100 drinking straws...when the jello is firm - squeeze them out...
also I will use Michele31's very famous brownie recipe...first layer crushed graham crackers (with melted butter)...melted peanut butter (easier to spread - wait until grahams are cooled) on top of that...then regular brownie mix on top...everytime I make it (thank you Michele) the people go NUTS!! and its kind of orange (PB + graham) and black (brownie)
I'm on the lookout for more recipes...and I'll post them...

Re: Halloween Parties
Here are some ideas I used when I had my first halloween party last year:Buy black light bulbs from the party stores to replace bulbs in certain rooms where you can make things glow (example: bathroom). We put up glow in the dark spiders and skulls in the bathroom then used the blacklight to make them glow.
Use glow sticks for the toilet to make it glow. Just tape one or two to the inside under the seat...REALLY COOL EFFECT and everyone LOVED it.
Bought that spider web stuff and made a HUGE web and put one of those BIG spiders in it that Michaels craft stores sells (which I used their 40% off coupon to buy!!)
Check the dollar stores too for small - cheap decorations. i got things like the glowing skulls and a pair of battery operated blinking lights...
One more thing we wanted to do but didnt. Get dry ice to add to a bucket of water near punch to make it steam/fog...or rent/buy a fog machine!!!
There are many sites out there with plenty of cool ideas. Unfortunately I dont have the links anymore. Just go to www.yahoo.com or www.google.com and do a search on what you are looking for.
Good luck and have FUN! Halloween parties are the best!!
PS - what do you plan on dressing up as???
(edited to add): OH AND JELLO SHOTS WITH THE WORMS!!!

They are soooooooo yummy. There is a receipe online for jello-shots, just do a search. And get those little plastic cups that you get in restaurants for sauces (they sell them in the party stores). And dont forget the worms!!
