Halls-Westbury Manor

We just booked the Westbury Manor for next July. The place is gorgeous. Plenty of places to take pictures- there's a gazebo, a fountain, a little stream, etc. We tasted the food and it was wonderful. A friend of mine and my bridemaid's aunt were both married there and they raved about it. It's not cheap, but if you're willing to be flexible with dates, times and days of the week, the prices can be more reasonable than you'd imagine for what you're getting. We spoke with Chad and he bent over backward for us- lowering the minimum number of guests we had to guarantee, switching dates around to see if Friday was cheaper than Sunday, etc. When you visit "the" place, you'll know it. Good luck!

I don't think calling someone a loser bride is nice but .... I agree these message boards can be real petty .... also sometimes you have to really think about the advice you are receiving ... who is giving it to you and why? I think that it is up to the individual to sit back and make an educated decision - shop around and ask your family and friends for recommendations - I found all of my vendors that way - my sister's wedding last year at Fox Hollow was great so - I booked Fox Hollow and all the great vendors they recommended - she had no problems .... that to me is the best kind of recommendation! Good Luck to all of you! I'm excited for my wedding September 2001!!

It would also be a lovely gesture and very kind of you to offer to find a sitter for them. My guess is that they're not ready to leave their infant in the care of others for an extended time while they come from Indiana, so they may have trouble leaving them with a "stranger" too.

Hi Annie,

We had to ask for it. Don't feel funny-you're paying so much money you should know first hand about the product that you're getting. The food was actually what sold us. If you (or anyone else) want more information, email me and I'll let you know what I'm paying and for what.

Cyndi..best wishes for your upcoming wedding on Saturday, and yes please e:mail me after your honeymoon and let me know how everything was :-)

How about the Woodbury Country Club that's where I am getting married. The hall is gorgeous and so are the grounds. My friend is getting married at the Westbury Country Club we are paying the same price and they are both beautiful. The main difference is the number of wedding at the places at one time.

Good luck!

Jeremy,

Don't worry about the food...like I mentioned before, it's wonderful. But if you want one, you should ask to have a food tasting when you are back in NY...I'm sure they will be more than happy to give you one. As for limos's, I haven't contacted anyone yet but a friend at work told me to contact Dennis at Rose Limo's...I think they are in Bohemia. She used them for her wedding and said they were great. Let me know if you would like me to get you the phone number. Mind if I ask who you are using for your photographer & DJ? Best of luck!!

FLATS ARE A GOOD IDEA! BUT MAKE SURE YOUR BUSEL BUTTON/SNAPPS/HOOKS ARE HIGHER. 2INCHES IS ALOT OF DRESS TO BE DRAGING ON THE FLOOR. : )

Jeremy,

I checked out the SpinAroundSound website but there was no price list. Would you give me the price range for them. I am looking for a DJ and am trying to compare prices

We are dealing with Stavroula too and she really is great. The skylight room is our coctail hour room and our reception is in the grandballroom. I loved the idea of having the ceremony in the garden, but my fiancee was not having that - he wanted the church ceremony.

Did you go for a food tasting? We haven't.

You guys made the right choice. I have been in two wedding parties this year and both were at the Sandcastle. One was a small reception and one a rather large one where we had the ballroom. The food and service was great both times. They even come around to ask guests if they would like second servings. I am going to be getting engaged this summer and have my heart set on the place for my wedding. One suggestion is to go with the fireworks at both weddings the guests were very surprised and are still talking about it.

Apology accepted

MICHEAL'S (THE ART & CRAFT STORE) HAS VEILING CHEAP!!

Ok girls this is how it works.I have seen it done in both rooms. In the ballroom I think it is a little extra per table but sparklers are placed in the flower centerpieces and when the bride and groom are announced the lights go off and the sparkles light up the room. It looks amazing and everyone is in shock because it is not expected. In the skylight room there are sparkles on the dance floor for the first dance. It looks pretty cool.
