Re: HALLS
Chateau Briand is very nice and I have only heard good things about it. Many people love it, but it's not really my style. I went with another place owned by the Scotto Brothers.
The Riviera is very nice, but is on the small side. How many people are you having? It is on the water and you can have your cocktail hour outside, weather permitting.
I really liked the Sans Souci, but they don't really have much grounds to take pictures. It is across the street from the water, on the other side of the street there is just a sidewalk and a raling, no grounds there either. The cocktail hour is held outside if at all possible. If it is inside the coctail hour is on the dance floor and they put up a divider to separate the dining area. It is also on the small side.
The Riviera and the Sans Souci are nice in that they only do one wedding at a time.
I don't know much about the other places, but I do not recomend the Huntington Town House. Do a search. There have been some reviews and comments.
Also check out this site: Wedding Facilities and Services It has descriptions, info, pics, and links to he websites (if available) to most of the places you listed.
Good luck with your search!

Re: HALLS
i went to see the metropolitan before i booked the north ritz club
it is a nice place, but not right for what i was looking for. i did not like the dance floor being so close to the bar. the band actually stands on top of the bar on a stage! the place looked run down when i went in february to look at it, but the menu seemed terrific. they only do one wedding at a time.

Re: HALLS
Hello,
Well of the ones you listed I have been to look at or been to a wedding at the following, The Riviera, Sans Souci and Chateu Briand and Tahtched Cottage
CB- I like but its more on the glitzy side and if that's what you are looking for its perfect. But rember they dont really have anythign else to offer, no views and its more than one wedding at a time
Sans Souci- Looked there for my wedding and i personally did not like it. The only good thing is one wedding at a time other than that it was a real disappointment. I thought the grounds were not kept up and did not like the attitude of the person helping us.
Thatched cottage- was nice, nice grounds, nice view of the pond its on.But when we looked we had really already deided on the Riviera which I just cant say enough about.
The Riviera is on the small side I would say food for 150 or so and that is not true your cocktail hour is not in the same room its in a room off to the side that doesnt hold that many people for sitting. It seats about 75 and the others will be standing at the bar and mingling. This was a downfall at first for me but thats what a cocktail hour is you stand and mingle not sit the whole time and if weather permits it will be outside wher the is plenty of seats. Also the people are so nice and accomadating, we made numerous requests and all of them were met. We had our tasting and teh food was good adn it is just a different look from al teh other LI halls. Its all dark wood and just great. Any questions FM me.

Re: HALLS
Since everyone posted about all the other places except the Nassau County Museum of Art, I will give you my review.
They grounds are beautiful, they also allow your guest to walk around and look at all the exhibits in the museum. Price range is for site fee is about $5000 and for catering is $ 100- $250 per person. You are only allowed to use their caterers.
The bad thing about it is that your wedding is actually in a tent (if you like that). There is only 1 wedding at a time and you get the grounds for the whole day (which is huge).
I was actually considering it but I didn't like the tent and also the Museum Coordinator did something very untasteful when i went there. (if you want to know you can fm me because i don't think it's appropiate to say on this site.
Hope that helped

Re: Can you FM me desyre
from other weddings ive heard CHATEAU BRIAND is ok, but nothing that spectacular. Also if you search the message boards many people have complained against Huntingtontownhouse.
Did you check out Milleridge cottage or carraige house? many brides seemed to like their service.

Re: HALLS
Well in 7/98 my sister got married at the Chateau Briand and I thought it was beatuiful. If my sister didn't get married there I would be. My fiance and I looked at the Thatched Cottage and we thought that the upstairs hall was kinda small and the downstairs hall has a pole in the middle of the dance floor. the Huntingtown house was ok. I wasn't to happy with the food but then again I never been there for a wedding. I only went there for a social function. Good Luck!!!

Re: HALLS
I am having my reception at the Riviera in Massapequa. It is a beautiful place if you are looking for a small reception site. It is right on the water and it is family owned. The prices are great and the food is excellent. They include the cake from Black Forest Bakery and also your center pieces if you wish (vase with your choice of roses with some babies breath). There are two great Bridal suites and they are all yours! Only one wedding at a time is held there, so very personal to your needs only the whole affair. Well worth looking at, good luck!

Re: HALLS
I am having my reception at Chateau Briand and I love it!! Some of the rooms are dark. The room I have has the open ceiling, that with the candle centerpieces I plan on getting and the stars (if there are any) will make the room look so romantic. If you are into the glitz of it I say go for it. They only have 2 weddings at a time and they time everything so you don't bump into each other. Each floor has their own bathroom. We will have the entire second floor to ourselves.
Metropolitan is very nice. I just think that it is really out of the way and difficult to get to.
Riviera heard nothing but good things.
Huntington Townhouse-do a search on the boards. I think there are a couple of ladies on here that are using them. Not sure though.
