I have an appointment with Woodbury Country Club tomorrow. Their Web site looks nice... I'm just a bit concerned that I read a thread on here that they give you a hard time about food tastings... if I can't taste I don't book! Food is too big a deal in my and his families. My father will have a bad time no matter what unless the food is good and there's a lot of it!
So next on my list is Fox Hollow, then Stuart Manor Country Club, then finally the Riviera.
I'm looking to spend about $100 (or less is always nice) per person for about 100 to 150 people. Impecable food a must and I need an outdoor ceremony for late September or October of 2006. Preferably Nassau county, but may eventually be open to western suffolk if necessary. Looking at a Sunday afternoon wedding. I like Westbury Manor but I've heard their minimum is high.
Suggestions are always helpful...

Re: Halls, halls, halls
There are so many halls in your range. Milleridge has at least one package in your price range, and it's superb. My wedding is at a Temple, but I shopped all kinds of venues and gathered info. I didn't really look into the ones you listed, so I can't say much about them. I've been to Fox Hollow and the CH was great.

My minimum for a Sunday afternoon wedding at Westbury Manor is 150 people. And my price per person is well within your range. I wouldn't rule them out!
The only thing is you don't get a food tasting - they may let you eat in the restaurant on the house, but I don't think you get a real tasting. Other WM ladies - correct me if I'm wrong?

I was told by my wedding coordinator at the woodbury country club that you can have a food tasting. They only do it on Friday evenings and you have to make an appointment before hand. Im sure you will get the specifics when you go there tomorrow.

I would definitely check out Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst. Our ceremony was outside, it fits into your price range, and they have full tasting dinners every other Wed - and encourage you to attend as many as you want!

Re: Halls, halls, halls
My MOH was married at the Riviera last year in mid September. She had an outside ceremony - it was beautiful. She paid under $70 per person and that included the floral centerpieces on the tables and the vienesse hour with the chocolate waterfall (YUM). 150 is probably the max you can have in that room, more than that I think it would be too crowded. They had a food tasting and loved it. I ate everything at her wedding and it was delicious.
Another friend of mine just booked WM for a February 2006 wedding. She's paying under $75 pp for a Sat night....BUT I think the fact that she booked so late (and Feb is not peak time) may be why she got such a good deal.
Happy Hunting.

I just looked at the pic on your avatar and I love it. I am so glad we have the same photgrapher!
Sorry this has nothing to do with the posts.
If you try CB you will get it for at least 70-80 per person.

this was going to be my suggestion...I heard that they don't like people to sign contracts until the food tasting

Re: Halls, halls, halls
I went to a wedding a Westbury Manor and I was surprised by how good the food was and it was plenty. My wedding was at North Ritz, and they give you a lot of food and it's very very good, but the price may be out of your range, but it is worth it and it 's in Nassau.
WCC was amazing! Guests are still calling my mom and MIL to say how much they enjoyed my wedding.
And we said we wanted to do a tasting before booking and it wasnt a problem at all.

Re: Halls, halls, halls
Well, I went to my appointment and have to say I love it! I want to book but I have to wait a bit due to some personal circumstances. I hope the date that I like best will still be available by the time we can book! I don't want to go too late into the fall... today was FREEZING and it's not even October yet! I hope that once I make the plans that we will at least get a nice, comfortable fall day. I'd hate to think we'll wait all this time and go through all this to have to bring it in doors. I know it's always a possibility. WCC was very nice... I love the outdoor ceremony accomodations, all the things that are inlcuded and the coordinator was SO nice! I have to bring FH to the next visit, but I think he'll like it too!
