Hamlet WW or Thatched Cottage????

Ok, so this was round 1 for looking at reception halls. Did it with my mom and figured I would take FH to go see the finalists. We saw

Hamlet WW (Hauppage)
Thatched Cottage

The two places that I absolutely LOVED are the Hamlet WW and Thatched Cottage. I still have some more places to see but think that these will be the finalists. Okay, so here are my questions about each one.

Hamlet WW- Totally my style and love that there is a hotel right across the way. The retractable wall thing seems confusing. I am looking at 175 and am concerned that the room is not big enough. I would rent the restaurant part out. Also, were did you ladies have the ceremony, in the ballroom or the cocktail area? The cocktail area seemed like it would be too small to hold all of my guest. Also, in terms of negotiating, are they flexible with the price pp?

Thatched Cottage- I thought it was so beautiful and loved the water views. I got a pretty good price but am concerned by some of the reviews I read about the food and potential smell from the harbor?? Also, if there is another affair going on has there been a problem with seeing people from that affair?

I have never been to HamletWW but I wanted to let you know that I have recently attened a wedding at the Thatched Cottage... and it was GREAT!

HWW is my RH! :) I looovveee it because its very very simple... not like alot of other LI halls. And, I have a ton of OOT guests so I really wanted a close hotel.

That being said... Im only having 100 people. I saw it set for alot more than that and Im not sure if I would use this place if I had over 150 I am having my ceremony in the ballroom, then when we shift to the CH they will change the ballroom over to the reception.

I've never been to the Hamlet, but my sister got married at the Thatched Cottage in 2004. The food was awesome. There was no smell at all coming from the water either.
As far as other parties go, hers was the only wedding there that night (it was a Friday in August).

Edited to add: She wound up having around 180 in the downstairs room - plenty of room.
