Hamlet WW Tasting

Well, I had my tasting last night and I was more than pleased with the food.

I ordered my cake and ice sculpture as well. For my main menu, I'm going to pick the pepper crusted beef tenderloin, chicken provencal and the salmon. All were good! (I don't eat fish, but everyone else liked it!)

I am not concerned about the wall at all. Denise showed me how it opens and closes and it's not like a gym wall at all...very quiet. I'm so glad I've decided to leave it open. Honestly, I think it takes a lot away from the room if I did close it. You also lose a bartener if you leave it closed.

I saw the linens and the way the tables will be arranged once the cocktail is over and I think it will be fine.

Denise was a doll and I have complete confidence that my wedding will be perfect there!

The bridal suite, bathrooms, entranceway...everything looked perfect! AND, that was on a Tuesday night after they just had a golf outing there.

So, for those concerned about the wall...I wouldn't worry about it. It will be left open for my reception and I'm confident that is the right thing to do. If people want to leave your party for the loud music, they'll leave. A wall isn't going to stop them. I'd rather them over by the cocktail room than leaving my party all together! I'm going to have a lot of young guests at my wedding so I'm not worried about people not dancing with me.

My FH is a big golf fan and we chose the room for it's beautifl panaramic view. I couldn't imagine closing that off. That's why we picked the place.

Lori, best of luck to you next weekend!!!

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

That's really great to hear. Did they let you taste any of the food that will be at the cocktail hour? Did you do any other extras?

I am not going to stress about the wall anymore. I am sure that it will be fine too.

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

Yum, now I am hungry! Thanks for reporting back about the wall. I totally agree with you. I am not going to worry about it at all. As long as it doesn't make a loud noise, I don't care. I loved it open. That is how it has been whenever I have been there, so I wouldn't want to close it either. I am also not worried about people dancing and would hate to lose the extra bar.

Thanks for reporting back and setting my mind at ease.

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

Thank you so much for reporting back to us. I want you to know that I went to the bakery where they get their cakes in Syssot and brought one. It was $21 for an 8' round choc. sponge cake w/choc. mouse filling. It was delicious. I also got some of the cookies and they were excellent.
What else did you taste? What 'other' dessert did you pick?
I still HATE the wall. I just cannot help it. I do not have a summer wedding so it doesn't 'add light' to my main room when closed. But I can see how it changes things in the summer. I think it looks cheap in the cocktail room and I honestly HATE the idea of my guests seeing the empty banquet tables. If they could remove them that would be a different story. Also, the 2nd bar will be kept open, regardless as to whether I open the wall or not and used as a service bar. The wait staff should bring your guests drinks to their tables anyway.

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

For my dessert, I chose the choc and vanilla ice cream in the hard chocolate coating. Forgot the name of it. Tortuffo or something?

The mocha mud pie was also excellent, but figured more people like choc. and vanilla ice cream than coffee...but both were REALLY good!

I tried a bunch of appetizers and all were very good. There was nothing there that I 'didn't' like.

The cocktail tables aren't empty. They change the linens (if needed) and I'm decorating my cocktail tables already so they'll have those on there.

I saw the room the way it 'would be' during my reception and I was fine with it. Now I'm just so excited, I can't stress the small stuff!

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

I had a picture of a cake that I saw in a book and I ripped it out and showed it to her.

They are going to change the color (per my instruction) from pink roses to red. I'm using the gum paste flowers as well. FYI, girlfriend got married Saturday and had a gorgeous cake in mind with beautiful fresh flowers all over it. WELL, the florist forgot to deliver the cake flowers!! So, I'm staying safe and going with the sugar ones. I've seen the Hamlet's cakes and they really are beautiful.

I chose a plain yellow cake with strawberry filling. I wanted something everyone would eat...and nothing too heavy since they get the second dessert.

Also, Brian, the chef is really nice and very accomodating. He kept coming out and making sure we liked everything. Try the fried artichokes...I don't even like artichokes and these were amazing!!

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

How far before the wedding should you do the tasting and how many different items do they let you taste?

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

I also have a photo of the cake I want. They don't have a book for you to look at, or atleast I have never seen one. I am doing a choc. sponge cake with peanut butter choc. filling because that is my favoriate and my entire family LOVES PB. But I am thinking of the crepes as my second dessert.
What did you pick? Did you taste any?
Tell me what else you picked? First course?

Re: Hamlet WW Tasting

Tasting: I'm getting married in October and I had my tasting yesterday. Brian said I was early for it...Denise didn't seem shocked that we were there already. I got my placecards and seating chart and I'm getting RSVP backs already so I think no less than 6 weeks before your wedding.

I forgot all the different apps I picked but main course is:

Melon and Proscuttio
Hamlet Salad
Pepper Crusted Beef Tenderloin
Chicken Provencal
Salmon

Wedding cake: yellow cake with strawberry filling.

Dessert: I think it's called Tuttoro...it's choc. and vanilla ice cream in a hard chocolate shell? Sooo good!

The two desserts I tried were awesome! (mocha mud pie and the one above)

Plate presentation was beautiful...no complaints!

Michele, there's books when you first walk in of the cocktail hour and some cakes too. But if you have a picture, it should be fine.
