Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
I'm still not sure yet.... for $20 more the guests could be so much closer by staying at the Best Western, but from what I've heard the hotel itself is kind of.... not so nice. This is what drives me crazy about being in CA and not being able to check these places out. I kind of feel bad asking my guests to pay $169 to stay for one night in a hotel thats not that great and with rooms that are not so big. grrr..

Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
I know what you mean with this decision.... I live in NYC but am spending a week in LI in August. I already saw both Hotels and on the surface both look nice. I am going to go back to see the rooms before I decide. I like that the Best Western is closer esp since I am having my rehearsal at a vineyard but am concerned about what I heard .... i wll report back what I find out...

For you 05 brides Holiday Inn is building a new hotel on the LIE at exit 68 (William Floyd Parkway) It will be about 10 - 15 minutes (depending on traffic) east of the Hampton Inn.ETA: It should be finished sometime in Feb. of 05

That would be awesome!! Giorgio's is exit 71 (i think). I wonder how early we can start getting rates and blocking rooms. Has anyone seen the building in process?

Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
I chose the Best Western. It is way closer to East Wind and it was a better price. Plus they are redoing it.

They have the land cleared and there is a sign up but I am not sure if they have started building yet. I will be going by there later tonight so I will check it out! I called holiday in when I first saw the sign go up to see when it would be open but I did not ask about blocking rooms or anything. I wonder if we get a discount if we block rooms before they open? Maybe I will call them again! I let you know what I find out!!

I chose the Marriott off the LIE for my vineyard wedding, and although it was more of a drive, I felt it was worth it. It was expensive though.

Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
I read this entire thread and I can't believe what eveyrone is saying. Im getting married at Giorgio's on 11/5/04. I went to the Best Western to book the rooms and the rooms were $109 each. They also included the shuttle service to and from Giorgio's as many ties as we needed and they have a continental breakfast in the morning. It was the exact same package that the Hampton Inn offered, only cheaper and closer. Although, the Hampton Innn was only providing the shuttle service one way there and one way back. I walked around the BW hotel and it looked very nice to me. Perhaps this was after the renovations. I thought that the place fit right in with the 'Eastern Long Island' look (very quaint). The Hampton Inn is just way too far, in my opinion, for guests to travel back and forth to after a night of partying. It's a good 25 min. drive at least. Majority of my guests are traveling from Nassau and borderline Queens. I feel that it's a burden to ask them to drive so far at to go to a hotel and then have to drive an additional 25 min. to the reception. But, that's just my opinion. I don't know why I was able to get a better rate. For $109 a room and all that the Best Western is offering, I don't see how one could pass that up.Good luck!

Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
I'm surprised at what I'm reading too - we're getting married out east and have rooms for us & guests at the Best Western. It's much closer than the Hampton Inn, and I looked at rooms in both places - regular rooms and suites, and they were comparable. Best Western has a liquor license and a restaurant while the HI has neither.

We went with Hampton Inn and do not regret it! My guests don;t need a lounge and liquor, since they will already be able to drink for free for 5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hampton Inn vs. Best Western East End
That's a good point about them drinking for 5 hours at your wedding, but I guess that's why I was concerned with having them drive so far to the hotel. I wanted them to be close. Also, I know that some of my OOT guests will want to continue the party afterwards, especially since we don't get to see them that often. They're a crazy bunch!!!The Hampton Inn was very nice too. So I guess it's just a matter of individual preference.

I'd be interested in knowing too. Did they ever build the Holiday Inn mentioned in this thread? How soon were you able to block rooms? I'm a Sept 06 bride with ver 100 people from out of town and I want to block ASAP!
