Hand addressing or Clear Labels-Outer & Inner?

Hand addressing or Clear Labels-Outer & Inner?

Okay, I got my invites and the vendor suggested that I Hand Write (neatly) the addresses rather than the clear labels because they don't look the best. Hand writing is more personable. What do you girls think, and If I hand write the outer, can I use clear labels on the inner envelope or the reverse, since the outer envelope will be tossed anyway? HELP!!

I am getting from fancy labels made up with a font to match the invitations. My writing is awful.

I think they should match, and hand writing is much nicer than labels, in my opinion. Don't do too many at once to give your hand a rest.

I thought about this long & hard... and it takes a LOT of time, and effort. If you plan on writing it out, remember, your hands will get tired, and your handwriting with start to wither & not be as 'fresh' as the 1st envelopes you mark up.

Needless to say, I'm printing up clear labels for both envelopes, in a fancy font.

My plan was to printout the addresses on the invitations but after my brand new printer ate two of my envelopes I went out and bought the clear labels and I am using them. I downloaded a font from dafont.com and they look really good. My hand writing is to sloppy and I can never write in s a straight line so I was even going to attempt that.

I used the clear labels to address my cousins bridal shower invites using a really nice font. People thought I used a calligrapher because the label disappears on the envelope.

I have a question. Obviously the outer envelope has the names and addresses, does the inner envelope just get the names and no address?

exactly....that way they can throw out the outer envelope, but keep all of the wedding information in the inner envelope

I just put the envelopes through my printer. I used the calligraphy font in word. It was time consuming but ended up looking really nice! I was told not to use clear labels by a lot of people or else that is what I was planning on doing.

Good Luck

Yea, I'll probably use clear labels on the outside with a nice font then on the inside my sister will do calligraphy.

As for writing in a straight line, here is a tip I learned many years ago. If your envelope is not lined with colored paper, lines on an index card will show through if you darken them. Cut a large index card to fit snugly in the envelope and neatly with a thin marker and ruler trace over the lines in the same position where you want your name and address to be written on the envelope. When slipped in the envelope, you have an easy gauge to help you. It will come out as neatly as if your envelope was ruled.

That's what I'm doing.... my handwriting changes from one word to the next, it will look like I handed my invitations over to first graders. I totally blew my budget on the invites, so a caligrapher is out of the question at this point.

I had the calligrapher do both envelopes. They came out beautiful.

JMO - I don't like labels (even if they are clear). I would go with handwrititng them yourself. But if you have not-so-great handwriting, like me....maybe if you have the time - you could print-out the addresses directly onto the envelopes - I think it looks much nicer then labels.

I like clear labels. We used them for our engagement party invites and they looked very nice!

i was going to use clear labels but then it dawned on me that i could just put the envelops through the printer and print them out that way! it looked beautiful and there were no complaints.
make sure you have a couple of extra envelops as it did eat one envelop.
