As for writing in a straight line, here is a tip I learned many years ago. If your envelope is not lined with colored paper, lines on an index card will show through if you darken them. Cut a large index card to fit snugly in the envelope and neatly with a thin marker and ruler trace over the lines in the same position where you want your name and address to be written on the envelope. When slipped in the envelope, you have an easy gauge to help you. It will come out as neatly as if your envelope was ruled.

great tip LImom!

IMO, it really depends on the type of affair you're having.

If you are going for the formal, then you should hand-write them. You could have a calligrapher prepare them for you, you could also nominate a relative or close friend, who has a nice handwriting to prepare them for you or you could do them yourself, but just take your time.

If your affair is not on the formal side, then I guess you could go with printing lables. I wouldn't suggest it, but people are doing it.

Maybe your vendor wants to write them out for you? LOL!

Seriously - I sent my invites out last week. - There is no way that I could hand write 150 invites. I did the clear label... played with fonts and they looked great!

Personally, I think labels on wedding invitations look cheesy. I would either write them out and take your time so you don't get tired and sloppy, print them on a laser printer, or at a Kinko's or pay a calligrapher.
