instead of running it through the mail hopper and possibly getting stuck/torn, etc, they cancel the stamp by hand w/a round & wavy rubber stamp so that u cant reuse the postage stamp

so I have to bring all the invites to the post office window and they will stamp everything in front of me? I was wondering this same thing date twin!!

The give you a stamp that they would use for like apasspart or something...they give it to you and it has todays date, the branch of the USPS and the zip code. You take the stamp and press it over each stamp, therefore 'cancelling' them so they cannot be reused. This is a good idea because as Ziamaria says otherwise they will go through an automatic machine and they get all dirty and gross. It looks a lot nicer to do it! You just go up to the window and say I want to hand cancel my invitations and the post man will take it from there!
i did it myself cuz I don't trust no one with my wedding stuff

you know when you get mail and the stamp and top right hand side has ugly black squigglies.Thats bc it went through the machine.
the post office worker or you can hand cancel them so they look MUCH neater. the red cirle is it

Ok so I purchase my stamps put them on the invites and than when I go to the post office where they put ti through the machine I ask for the stamper and do it myself so it is done properly?
Did I get ti right, and do they charge you to do it ??

yes, you put the stamps on. Then when you go there either have them do it right in front of you (dont ever trust them and just leave) or if its busy they give you the stamp and you do it yourself.
I dont believe its an extra charge. Well, im ending out STD's by next week and doing this so there better not be an extra charge
