I did my own and then the manager came out and said ' you can do that but I'm sorry to tell you they have to go through the machine anyway'

Re: Hand Cancel Invities?
I didn't hand cancel mine - didn't even ask for them to be hand canceled, but the post office did it anyway! Love the Amityville P.O.!
I went back in there a week ago and was talking to the woman behind the counter and she said they were hand canceled automatically because they were square - square invitations don't fit in the machines!
Oh and hand canceling means, they cancel the stamps by hand with a stamp instead of running it through the machines which gives you the bar code at the bottom and could smoosh any embellisments to the invitations.....

Re: Hand Cancel Invities?
I asked for them to be hand canceled in Nesconset, and didn't see them done because the line was too long and they said they would do it later. FH told me then his parents had the bar code on it, and I flipped, but then when I saw the envelope for myself after the fact it was hand canceled, but the receiving post office still runs it through the sorting machine which puts the bar code on the bottom. Oddly enough, FBIL's came a day later than theirs even though mailed same day, and must have went through a different receiving PO, because the barcode on his was really tiny and discretely printed on the bottom, and didn't really mess up the graphics, as opposed to FIL's which had a barcode on a stick right over the design.
I just had two additional to send out today, and I did it in St. James and they hand canceled them on the spot for me.
