hand cancelling invitations

hand cancelling invitations

I went to the post office and asked about mailing my daughter's wedding invites. I asked about hand cancelling. The woman was very nice. She said they don't do it, but they would give me the stamp and could stamp them all, then they wont go thru the machines. Has anyone else done this? I'll bring an invitation to the post office once we put it completely together and they'll weigh it.

my post office wouldnt allow me to do it. my invites went out last week and everyone said there was nothing wrong with the envelope. i dont think it's worth it, unless you dont want it canceled on top of the stamp.

I don't know where you girls live but I just mailed out last Thursday from the Holbrook post office on Furrows Road and the lady hand stamped all of them for me and they came and nice and neat! And they're open late during the week, until I think like 7pm. If you are close enough it's worth stopping by.

i WISH they would've let me do this! i spent so much time doing wax seals on my invites....and was SO dissapointed when i saw how the machine that they were processed through made them look :( (the invite was fine but the was seal was pretty ruined!)....i didn't know about hand cancelling at the time....had i known, i DEFINETLY would've done it. it's worth the time & effort!

I had no problem with this either...went right to Oakdale Post office and they hand cancelled them all for me!

The woman at my Post Office simply gave me the stamp (I had my box of invites) and I hand canceled each one of them. She showed me on a sample how to do it and then it only took me about 20 minutes and I was done with 175 invites.

Then, I gave them to her and they were not put through any machines.

I took mine to post office in OCeanside and they hand canceled, I have heard this story before though so I think it depends who you get.

I hand canceled mine and they ran them through the machine anyway!
