Original post by NowAndForever2012
I just came from the Post Office an they told me they do not hand cancel mail. All mail must go through the machine. I need to check the website. Anyone else have this problem?

the post office in hicksville...as soon as i put the box on the counter he knew they were wedding invites. i asked for them to be hand canceled.. and his response was i knew that thats why i wanted them left in the box so i can do them. he was soo nice. I would try a different post office. anything for somebody to get out of a little work.

Where do you live? I know in Huntington, if you come at a certain time of day, they will hand cancel for you....
Re: hand cancelling invites NO NO NO
there is more than one machine that the mail has to go through... the machine that ' cancels' the postage, and the machines that sort them... SO when you hand cancel, it only keeps them from going through the one machine that cancels the postage... the invites still have to go through all of the sorting machines to get where they need to go, so theres still a chance of something happening to them. to me, its not worth all the stress and worrying about it. we didn't hand cancel, and all of our invites were fine...

Go to a different post office. The lady handed me the stamper and I hand cancelled them myself. You're definitely allowed.

I took it the the post office by my job. No problems at all. Infact the main women did it with me.
