I want to have one of my readers read the Hand Ceremony. I think the officiant is usually the one who read it... do you think it would be OK to have a reader say it?

I have the same question...our monsignor never heard of it and I want to tell him when it should be performed.
Also is anyone doing this AND the unity candle?

Re: Hand Ceremony
I'm having the hand ceremony read by a really close friend of both myself & my FH.... i dont think it necessarily has to be someone religious...after all - that's what reading are for! as for where to put it in the ceremony...it's really just a preference. My groom and I were thinking of putting it right before the rings.
