hand ceremony?

We are doing a hand ceremony before our vows. Our rabbi for one reason or another does not think he should read it ( I'm perplexed, but I respect his decision without question).

Should my FH and I read it line by line to eachother (by memorizing) or should our maid of honor and best man read it to us? Thanks

Re: hand ceremony?

I would personally not trust that on such an emotional day I'd be able to remember the entire hand ceremony - that's just me.

You could either print out your portions on nice cardstock and read from it, or have your MOH and Best Man do it.

Re: hand ceremony?

my priest said it right before our vows- it was perfect timing. If your rabbi wont do it, I would ask your MOH and Best Man to read it...or Both Moms maybe... Or Grandparents

Re: hand ceremony?

we did it right before the rings - our pastors thought it would be nice since it's a blessing on your hands. We had an aunt and uncle who we look up to as a couple read it...they've been married for over 30 years and are just great people. there wasn't a dry eye in the church!
