Hand made Persian rug ...

Hand made Persian rug ...

We just bought ours from the Fortunoff rug sale. I love it and we got a great price ... I think. But I have a few concerns ... first, we are not sure how easily we can clean the rug if there are spills or some stains? Also, we don't have kids yet and I'm not sure of the 'traffic' on the rug and if it will wear out easy? I think hand made is more durable, but not sure.

We have about a week to decide if we want to keep it ... so I thought I'd ask for some comments on here.

Thanks in advance ladies!

Congratulations! Keep a bottle of Resolve in the house. It should be very durable. I obsessed over the first good rug I bought until I realized that I couldnt kill it. Just keep plants off it (water damage) and keep stains at bay and it will be fine.

Did they have a good selection at Fortuies? I have been want to go check the sale out.

My mother inherited a Persian rug when I was a baby...through a dog and 3 cats...it still looks great!!!

she does have it in the dining room (which is only used on special occasions) so the traffic is light...

she also brings it every 3-5 years to be cleaned...

Re: Hand made Persian rug ...

Thanks so much!

It will be in our living room and since I don't have a formal living room, there will be some traffic. I have to learn to not be obsessed with people walking on it.

Fran ... the big rug event ended yesterday. But Fortunoff's does sell rugs on their 3rd floor. I just found the prices of the hand made rugs to be unbelievable ... I heard that they made a lot of money with this event ... so hopefully they will have it again.
