About a year or so ago there was a post of a hands poem, and since then every other one I saw was different and just not as good... I think I lost my only copy I had of it, and now I desperately need it! If anyone has this 'These are the hands..' poem, can you post it!!! Hopefully I'll be able to find it again!! Thanks!

Re: Hands Poem
Here is what we used for our Hands Ceremony
“Please face each other and hold hands, so you may feel the gift you are to one another.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like not other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

Re: Hands Poem
That is absolutly beautiful...I love it. When do you do that though? At the church? Does the priest do it? I would like to incorporate this but when is the right time? Thanks!

We had it read by the priest at the church. We told him we wanted to have it in the ceremony, and he had no problems with that at all. He choose to add it in towards the end of the ceremony, which was fine with us.

Re: Hands Poem
I am planning to ask our priest to read this at our wedding mass as well. I was thinking of having him read it before we exchange rings.

Re: Hands Poem
at my friends wedding she had a good friend read it. Beautiful but long, my friend afterward said she felt weird standing up there looking at her new husbands hands. Just something to think about but it is absolutely beautiful and true.

Re: Hands Poem
I used it in my ceremony - The priest read it. I made some modifications to it so it was a little more appropriate (nothing about pregnant bellies or anything )

Re: Hands Poem
I will be using the same as LizD (with a few modifications). I think it is perfect..not too long but it says enough. Haven't spoken to Deacon yet so I don't know if he will read it or I will have a reader (need to work on that)

Re: Hands Poem
We're going to use it after the exchange of rings. We are thinking of having both of our brothers read a passage. My brother will read, 'Vincent please take Jennifer's hands' and his brother will read, 'Jennifer please take Vincent's hands.'
This way it becomes so much more personal to us all.
P.S. We haven't told the 'brothers' that they will be doing this yet...
