I went to Hank Lane's office and I only got to listen to 2 bands (which was a little weird) but I really loved one of them - Jeff Allen. My wedding is this summer and a bunch of bands that I have seen or that came highly recommended (NYC Swing, Renegade, Times Square Orchestra, Arcadia, Scott Yahney) were already booked. I've been to 2 showcases and I haven't really liked those bands. SO - Does anyone have feedback on them? It's a little scary that I can't see them. Also - if you know how to get in touch with Chuck Compo or Kenny Ford or any other HL bandleader that would be helpful and less scary.

I'm using the Michael hart band from hank Lane...I know that's absolutely no help to you, but I thought I'd share. It's actually the only band we listened to at HL and we loved them.
I met with them as well and they sounded really good too.

Yes, Jeff Allen of Hank Lane did my friends wedding in the Carlyle and It was awesome! They took no breaks and the floor was full the whole time. Obviously, I am speaking as a guest but I believe the bride (my girlfriend) loved them too!
eta Look at Ken James too. We had Ken's own 10 piece orchestra go out and they were the best hire I made the whole night. DH wouldn't marry me unless I promised to hire them. My stepsister had NYC Swing and another friend went with Steven Scott Central Park- excellent!

Thank you for responding! You have made me feel so much better already. I may go back and ask to hear one or two more bands and then give a deposit. Anyway, I am only getting a 6 pieces so Ken James may be too big, but NYC Swing came highly recommended by my best friend (they were booked and prob. too expensive) and I happened to have seen Craig Scott and liked them a lot but they were booked. So I am in good hands with you two!
